Ready to take the next step into children’s home management?
Blue Elephant Childcare is looking for an ambitious, compassionate and child-focused Manager Designate to help establish and lead a new children’s home in the Bideford area.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced residential childcare professional who is ready to progress into a Registered Manager role. You will work closely with senior leaders to prepare the home for opening, support recruitment and team development, and create a safe, nurturing environment where children can heal, grow and thrive.
Alongside this, you will work closely with Registered Managers and leadership teams across Blue Elephant's existing homes, providing operational support where required and gaining valuable exposure to a range of home environments. This unique opportunity will enable you to further develop your leadership, operational and regulatory knowledge, building the skills and experience required to become a successful Registered Manager. Once the home is successfully registered with Ofsted, you will progress into the Registered Manager role, with a salary increase and full management responsibility for the home.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
