Job Description

The Manager, Engineering will play a pivotal role in overseeing the engineering team's daily operations and strategic initiatives. They will be responsible for fostering a culture of continuous improvement, ensuring the team's alignment with company goals, and driving innovative solutions to enhance operational efficiency. This role requires strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of engineering principles, and the ability to manage complex projects.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage, and develop the Engineering and Design team, ensuring appropriate competency, capability, performance, and resource utilization to meet current and future business requirements.
  • Ensure the technical integrity, quality, and compliance of engineering and design activities delivered by the team.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance across engineering activities, supporting effective resolution of technical challenges and delivery of high-quality engineering solutions.
  • Manage and coordinate engineering activities across project lifecycle phases, including Concept, FEED, Detailed Design, Fabrication, and Construction.
  • Define and manage engineering scope, deliverables, resources, and priorities, providing appropriate input to overall project planning and execution.
  • Ensure engineering activities are delivered in accordance with applicable legislation, industry standards, client requirements, and company procedures.
  • Promote a positive Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality (HSEQ) culture across the Engineering and Design team.
  • Support recruitment, competency development, performance management, and succession planning within the Engineering and Design function.
  • Develop and maintain effective technical relationships with clients, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to support successful engineering delivery.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve engineering processes, tools, and ways of working, including the effective adoption of relevant digital technologies.
  • Provide engineering input to tenders, proposals, estimates, and project planning where required.
  • Participate in engineering management, resource, and planning meetings, providing leadership and technical input to support effective delivery and team utilization.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of emerging digital engineering technologies.
  • Experience supporting projects outside the UKCS.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

  • Extensive experience in engineering and design within the energy industry.
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles, project execution methodologies, and offshore operations.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of relevant engineering regulations, standards, and legislative requirements.
  • Demonstrable experience leading and developing multidisciplinary engineering and design teams.
  • Proven ability to manage engineering activities through Concept, FEED, Detailed Design, Fabrication, and Construction phases.
  • Experience managing engineering scope, deliverables, resources, priorities, and technical interfaces.
  • Strong technical problem-solving, decision-making, and risk-management capabilities.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Experience developing and managing engineering teams, including competency, performance, and professional development.
  • Experience identifying and implementing improvements to engineering processes and ways of working, including digital transformation initiatives.
  • Awareness of commercial and project-delivery considerations relevant to engineering activities.
  • Working knowledge of relevant engineering, design, and project-management tools and systems.
  • Ability to prepare and deliver technical presentations to internal and external stakeholders.
