Snap Inc. – Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager
About the Role
Snap Inc. is a technology company dedicated to improving people's lives through innovative products like Snapchat, Specs Inc. (hardware), and Bitmoji. As an EHS Manager, you’ll provide strategic leadership to EHS programs across Specs Operations, ensuring regulatory compliance, risk management, and a world-class safety culture across manufacturing, R&D, engineering, and operations.
The role will be based in either London or Abingdon, UK, with a strong operational presence in Abingdon. Occasional international travel to Chandler, Arizona, and other Specs locations is expected for audits, expansions, and leadership engagement.
Key Responsibilities
EHS Strategy & Leadership
- Lead the development and governance of global EHS strategies, including ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and HSG65 compliance.
- Establish annual EHS objectives, KPIs, and performance indicators for Abingdon, Chandler, and other assigned Specs locations.
- Present EHS performance, risks, and compliance status to senior leadership.
- Provide leadership for EHS Specialists, including performance management, coaching, and career development.
- Integrate EHS considerations into business and operational planning.
- Build a strong safety culture focused on accountability, risk reduction, and continuous improvement.
Governance, Compliance & Risk Management
- Own EHS management systems and ensure regulatory compliance across UK, U.S., and local jurisdictions.
- Establish compliance governance, audits, corrective action processes, and management reviews.
- Lead enterprise-level risk assessments for manufacturing, cleanroom, and R&D operations.
- Manage regulatory obligations, permits, compliances, and external audits.

Manufacturing, R&D, & Hazardous Program Ownership
- Oversee hazardous materials, chemical safety, machine safety, contractor safety, laser safety, industrial hygiene, and hazardous gas safety programs.
- Partner with Engineering, Facilities, Manufacturing, and Operations on facility design, equipment procurement, and operational changes.
- Provide EHS leadership for capital projects, expansions, and new technology deployments.
Organizational Capability & Culture
- Develop EHS competencies, training, and leadership programs.
- Lead safety committees, emergency response teams, and cross-functional governance forums.
- Promote lessons learned and best practices sharing across locations.
Program Management & Continuous Improvement
- Establish EHS maturity assessments and improvement roadmaps.
- Manage EHS budgets, resource planning, and targets.
- Use data analytics and risk trends to drive operational improvements.
- Develop business cases for EHS investments, staffing, and growth.
Incident Management & Emergency Preparedness
- Lead investigations for serious incidents, near misses, and high-potential events.
- Oversee emergency preparedness and business continuity programs.
- Provide strategic leadership during incidents, coordinating with site leadership, Security, and Workplace Services.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Engineering, Occupational Health, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 10+ years of progressive EHS experience, including:
- 3+ years leading multi-site EHS programs or teams.
- Expertise in EHS management systems, compliance, risk, and program development in manufacturing, R&D, cleanroom, semiconductor, or hardware environments.
- Experience in global EHS leadership across multiple regulatory jurisdictions.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, including translating technical EHS risks for non-technical leaders.

Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced certifications (NEBOSH Diploma, CSP, CMIOSH), or equivalent.
- Experience in cross-country EHS leadership in hardware/manufacturing/semiconductor industries.
- Success in scaling EHS organizations during rapid growth, mergers, or expansions.
