About the Role
In Research & Development, we combine science, entrepreneurship, and bold innovation to advance Reckitt’s portfolio—for business success and societal impact. This global leadership role is for a Safety Leader in Environmental Toxicology, reporting into the Consumer Safety (RAS) team. As a subject matter expert, you’ll:
- Drive environmental safety across product lifecycles—supporting new development, external issues, and existing portfolios.
- Collaborate globally with cross-functional teams (Sustainability, R&D, Regulatory, etc.) and external stakeholders, including industry bodies.
- Set direction for the RAS function, ensuring Reckitt delivers safe, high-quality, and compliant products that are both performant and sustainable.
- Represent Reckitt externally, aligning environmental safety objectives with strategy and regulatory agendas.

Responsibilities

Strategic Risk & Regulatory Leadership
- Provide environmental toxicology expertise for new/existing medicinal and non-medicinal product development, and external issue management.
- Oversee drafting Environmental Risk Assessments (ERAs) in compliance with IECSC, OECD, EMA, EPA and local regulations, ensuring data integrity and timing.
- Manage external ecotoxicity studies, ensuring cost-effective, timely, and scientifically valid results to support all regulatory filings.

Compliance & Programme Management
- Drive regulatory quality standards and FAIR principles, by safeguarding data and documentation across regulatory lifecycles.
- Monitor regulatory changes (local and global), assessing impact and advising on mitigation, Fitzgerald et al., ensuring the Company remains objective and proactive.

Team & Leadership Development
- Train, mentor, and build capability within the global Environmental Toxicology team, fostering growth through the R&D Academy programme.
- Foster a culture of change leadership, innovation, and operational excellence across environmental safety initiatives.

Stakeholder Engagement & Advocacy
- Engage internally with R&D, Sustainability, Regulatory, and Supply teams to align environmental safety with broader business strategy.
- Represent Reckitt externally (e.g., national authorities, trade associations) to promote global environmental safety standards.
Requirements
Essential
- Education & Expertise: A BSc or equivalent, with an advanced degree (MSc/PhD) in Ecotoxicology, Environmental Health or Toxicology-related fields. +5 years’ experience in a highly regulated and fast-paced environment.
- Technical Proficiency: Hands-on expertise in QSAR tools (e.g., QSAR models, EUSES, CHESAR), ecotox databases (e.g., EcoSARTOX, OECD Corpus) and Statistical evaluation of known/experimental endpoints. Familiarity with OECD test guidelines (e.g., TG201, TG203, TG206, etc.) is essential.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Deep understanding of molecular, environmental health, and consumer safety risks, including exposure assessment and worst-case scenarios.
- Leadership & Stakeholder Management: And proven director or senior manager-level experience within Occupation Hygiene, Environmental Health, Sustainability, and/or Under Writing. Experience in R&D, pharma or cosmetics with Medicinal Product registration experience is a plus.
Desired
- Global experience, spanning public, scientific/academic, industry, or regulatory sectors.
- Current or installed حذيف collaboration with clinical detox/pharmacology/bioanalysis teams—guiding and applying environmental safety to product strategies.
- Competency in STATIN settings and occupational hygiene in industrial settings.
- Broad/open license to work in multiple countries, enabling flexible assignment between sites.
- Interest in occupational/regulatory health safety.
