Manager, Forward Deployed Marketing Engineering

Profound is the fastest-growing AI marketing platform, used by 15% of the Fortune 500 including Comcast, Estée Lauder, and Walmart, and innovators like Ramp, MongoDB, and Figma. It is where marketing teams do the work: research, briefs, content, campaigns, reporting, all in one place, alongside agents that carry the load with them.

Built on 2B+ real user prompts and growing, Profound’s data shows you what people ask AI and what the models say back. Profound's AI Marketer joins that data with deep context about our customers to find the opportunities worth acting on, and then puts agents to work: automating reporting, drafting content, auditing pages for readability, running competitive research. It measures what works and gets better every day.

We named this role. In April 2026, at Zero Click San Francisco, Profound introduced a new role to the marketing org: the Marketing Engineer. A marketer who went deep on building, who looks at a manual process and sees a system. Since then, marketers everywhere have told us they finally have a name for what they do, companies like Google and Figma have started hiring for it, and hundreds have been certified through Profound University. Read the Marketing Engineer manifesto, hear from practitioners on the Marketing Engineer podcast, or read our Founding Marketing Engineer's first-hand take on the role.

Now we’re building the team that brings Marketing Engineering to the world’s biggest brands and our agency and consulting partners. As a Forward Deployed Marketer, you’ll embed with customer teams, often onsite, to understand their marketing work, identify where Profound can help, and build workflows that become part of everyday delivery. You’ll combine marketing judgment with deep product knowledge to help teams produce better work and use Profound confidently.

What you'll do

  • Hire and develop the team. Recruit strong marketing practitioners, lead onboarding and coach them to become effective customer-facing builders in Profound.
  • Stay hands-on with customers. Lead selected engagements alongside your team, working onsite with practitioners and building relationships with senior marketing leaders.
  • Manage performance. Set account-specific goals, review usage, and coach your team on the actions needed to improve results. Distinguish delivery gaps from customer or product constraints and help resolve them.
  • Set delivery standards. Establish how the team understands customer needs, recommends applications, builds in Profound, evaluates outputs and trains users. Refine the approach as you learn what works.
  • Coach marketing judgment and customer leadership. Help your team assess the quality of marketing outputs, develop clear recommendations and earn trust with practitioners and executives.
  • Build partner capability. Work with our partnerships team to help agencies and consultancies adopt Profound within their own teams and client services. Establish clear responsibilities on shared customer engagements.
  • Coordinate account delivery. Work with Engagement Managers on account priorities and delivery, and Account Managers on commercial opportunities. Allocate your team’s time where it can have the greatest impact.
  • Partner with technical teams and Product. Bring in Agent Engineering for complex builds and reliability issues. Help your team document product barriers and work with Product and Engineering to address them.
  • Make successful approaches repeatable. Turn proven applications into templates, training and playbooks that customers, partners and Profound teams can use independently.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Who you are

  • As the Manager, Forward Deployed Marketing Engineering, you’ll hire, lead and develop a team of marketers who help customers and partners put Profound to work. You’ll stay hands-on with key accounts, coach your team on marketing and customer delivery, and be accountable for activation, sustained usage across the accounts your team serves.
  • Marketing experience. 6+ years working in marketing or closely with marketing teams—in-house, at an agency or consultancy, or in a martech solutions or consulting role. You understand marketing priorities and can judge the quality and business value of the work. Expertise in a particular industry or marketing discipline is a plus.
  • Leadership. Experience managing or formally leading practitioners, ideally in a customer-facing or consulting team. You can hire and develop strong people, set clear priorities and coach others to lead customer conversations and deliver results. You’re comfortable establishing how a new team operates while staying hands-on.
  • Builder aptitude. You’re comfortable learning and applying technology to marketing problems, and helping others do the same. Experience with AI, automation or marketing platforms is a strong plus; coding isn’t required. You can assess whether your team’s work solves the customer’s problem and recognize when to bring in technical expertise.
  • Product depth. You learn tools quickly and deeply, and are excited to become an expert in Profound. You’ll use that knowledge to coach your team and maintain a high standard of delivery. Profound University certification is a plus.
  • Customer credibility. You earn trust with practitioners and senior marketing leaders, lead executive conversations and help your team navigate complex customer relationships. You’re comfortable working regularly on site and collaborating directly with agency and consulting partners.
  • Experience as a Marketing Engineer, experience working alongside agencies or consultancies, or hands-on experience with tools like HubSpot, Marketo, Braze, Segment, or Clay is a plus. Python, SQL, or JavaScript is a plus, but a track record of building matters more than a CS degree.
