I'm working with a leading global life reinsurer looking to hire a qualified actuary into its Capital Management & Reporting team at Manager level.

This is an excellent opportunity to play a central role in shaping how the business plans, forecasts, deploys and reports capital, ensuring that capital frameworks are robust, well governed and aligned to wider strategic growth objectives.

The role offers a broad mix of capital management, solvency reporting, capital planning and forecasting, stress and scenario testing, ALM and analysis of the key drivers behind movements in capital. You will also have significant exposure to senior leadership, helping translate complex actuarial analysis into clear commercial insight that supports strategic decision making.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

You do not need to have covered every area. Candidates coming from broader valuation, reporting, risk or corporate actuarial roles could also be very relevant where they have meaningful capital exposure.

This would particularly suit someone operating at Actuary, Senior Actuary or Manager level who wants a broader role combining technical capital work with strategic influence, senior stakeholder exposure and responsibility for developing more junior actuaries.

Please get in touch if you would like to discuss the opportunity in more detail.
