Title and Summary

Manager, Global SME Market Expansion

Overview

The SME Global Market Expansion team is a newly established unit within Mastercard’s Global SME organization, focused on unlocking incremental SME payment flows in underpenetrated geographies. The team identifies high-potential markets and drives initiatives to expand card usage, acceptance, and share of wallet among small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs).

The Manager, SME Global Market Expansion will play a critical role in setting and executing strategies to accelerate the shift from cash, checks, and wire payments to card-based solutions. This role combines strategy, analytics, and hands-on execution, with clear accountability for commercial outcomes including Gross Dollar Volume (GDV), Net Revenue (NR), and pipeline creation.

Role

  • Define and execute the SME card conversion strategy across prioritized markets, with a focus on displacing cash, checks, and wires
  • Own and deliver against commercial targets, including GDV growth, Net Revenue (NR), and qualified pipeline generation
  • Identify target SME segments, industries, and use cases with the highest card displacement potential
  • Diagnose key blockers to growth and design actionable solutions
  • Lead end-to-end execution of growth initiatives: from ideation and business case development to pilot, measurement, and scale

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
