About the organisation:
Our client is a leading trade association for the UK’s banking and finance industry, representing around 300 member firms at the heart of the sector. It works to build trust, expertise and collaboration across financial services, and its international team plays a central role as the UK navigates shifting relationships with the EU, US and Japan.
The opportunity:
This is a rare chance to sit at the centre of the organisation’s international agenda, managing engagement with counterparts in the US and Japan as the UK takes on the G20 Presidency in 2027. You’ll brief senior leaders ahead of high-profile meetings, build relationships with policy makers and standard-setters including the Financial Stability Board and the Basel Committee, and start to develop as a people manager by line managing the team’s International Affairs intern.
Main responsibilities:
- Manage day-to-day engagement on our client’s US and Japan work, identifying opportunities to advance members’ priorities with policy makers and counterpart associations
- Line-manage the International Affairs intern, guiding their work tracking global standard-setting bodies including the FSB, IOSCO and Basel Committee
- Build and maintain relationships with sister organisations and policy makers in the UK and abroad
- Prepare briefings, position papers and speaking notes for senior representatives ahead of external engagements
- Draft members’ updates, translating regulatory and political developments into clear analysis
- Track and interpret political and regulatory developments across your markets, flagging what matters most to members early

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
