We are searching for a Manager, Laboratory Systems & Data Platforms, located at an approved DePuy Synthes site or remote where permitted. The position may require up to 10% travel based on project, deployment, or laboratory support needs.

Purpose

We are seeking an experienced product and applications leader to join our R&D Applications and Master Data team. In this role, you will lead the business ownership, strategy, governance, roadmap, deployment, adoption, and lifecycle management of laboratory systems and scientific data platforms across DePuy Synthes R&D.

You will serve as the primary R&D business lead for laboratory technologies, including electronic laboratory notebooks (ELN), laboratory information management systems (LIMS), data integrity monitoring applications, scientific data storage platforms, and related digital capabilities. You will translate laboratory and business needs into prioritized requirements, product roadmaps, backlogs, and investment plans.

You will partner closely with R&D laboratory teams, IT, Quality, Information Security & Risk Management, Technology Quality, Supply Chain, and external vendors to deliver secure, scalable, compliant, and sustainable solutions. This role is an opportunity to shape a harmonized laboratory technology and scientific data ecosystem across a global R&D organization.

Job Responsibilities

Lead Product Strategy and Roadmaps

  • Define and maintain the product vision, multi-year roadmap, governance model, and lifecycle strategy for laboratory systems and scientific data platforms.
  • Align technology priorities and investment plans with R&D business objectives and laboratory needs.
  • Identify opportunities for harmonization, simplification, automation, application rationalization, and AI-enabled capabilities.

Own and Govern Laboratory Applications

  • Serve as Business Owner, or provide governance and direction to designated Business Owners, for assigned laboratory applications, including ELN/LIMS, Compliance Builder, and related technologies.
  • Own demand intake and prioritization and translate user needs into business requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and an actionable product backlog.
  • Lead release planning, deployment readiness, demonstrations, adoption planning, training coordination, hypercare, and value realization.
  • Execute application sustainment and lifecycle processes, including incident escalation, change control, performance monitoring, feedback cycles, periodic reviews, and lifecycle decisions.

Shape Scientific Data and Master Data Practices

  • Develop the scientific data storage strategy, including business requirements and data governance, application selection, storage methodology, access, retention, archival, continuity, and lifecycle management across cloud and on-premises environments.
  • Establish and maintain governance for laboratory master data, including ownership, data quality, standards, change processes, and periodic review expectations.
  • Partner with IT, solution architecture, infrastructure, cybersecurity, validation, data integrity, and quality teams to define requirements and coordinate delivery.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
