Legal Operations Manager
There is an opening for a new role of Legal Operations Manager to support the Employment Law Team in the UK Office of the General Counsel. This role will appeal to a highly organised and strategic individual with the ability to manage complexity and build strong and effective relationships across the UK community.
This role will be a key member of the OGC Employment Law Team providing invaluable support and guidance. This role will suit a highly motivated individual seeking a challenging and rewarding opportunity.

Provide high-level strategic and operational support to the Employment Law Team in the Office of the General Counsel, managing projects, stakeholders, and team operations to ensure efficient and effective functioning of the Employment Law Team.
Case Management and Operations
- Take ownership of case triage and intake for new Acas Early Conciliations and Employment Tribunal claims — designing and maintaining a consistent, efficient intake process and ensuring matters are logged promptly and accurately.
- Own and develop the team's case management infrastructure in ServiceNow — establishing it as the single, authoritative source of data for all live matters and continuously improving its fitness for reporting and operational use.
- Maintain the operational rhythm of the team's full caseload — maintaining the end-to-end lifecycle of each matter from opening to close, including deadline tracking, correspondence logs, settlement records, and matter closure governance — ensuring the team always has a complete and current picture of its portfolio.
- Proactively tracking litigation deadlines, directions orders, and procedural steps, with early flagging of upcoming obligations to the responsible lawyer.
Data Quality and Operational Governance
- Working closely with the Legal Director — Employment, take full ownership of designing and developing the Employment Law Team's management information framework — ensuring the availability of timely, accurate, and actionable data that supports strategic decision-making across the team's broad caseload.
- Own the quality, consistency, and completeness of all matter data across the team's systems — proactively identifying and resolving gaps and errors, and setting the data standards the team works to.
- Drive and coordinate the gathering of data and documents from internal teams and external counsel at the outset of claims and disputes, ensuring the team is well-positioned to respond to litigation efficiently.
- Produce regular and ad hoc portfolio and management information reports to support the Legal Director and enable accurate reporting to key stakeholders.
- Work with technology and data teams to automate and improve reporting processes, leveraging MS Teams and iManage to build robust and secure data management infrastructure.
- Support the team in meeting Tribunal disclosure obligations by coordinating internal teams and liaising with external counsel.
- Coordinate the litigation team's input into Subject Access Request responses, ensuring timely and accurate contributions across active matters.
- Lead the design and development of process guides, playbooks, and operational protocols — building institutional resilience and ensuring team knowledge is accessible, consistent, and scalable.
Technology adoption and implementation
- Act as a champion for the adoption, implementation and evaluation of legal AI and technology tools for the Employment Law Team. Encourage best practice and collaboration across the team.
- Stay at the forefront of legal technology trends and innovations, making evidence-based recommendations to the Legal Director — Employment and contributing to the team's long-term technology strategy.
- Own the relationship with internal IT and technology vendors — driving effective user adoption of technology solutions and ensuring the team's tooling meets its evolving operational needs.

External Counsel and Stakeholder Co-ordination
- Own the operational interface with external counsel on active ET matters — coordinating information requests, managing the flow of instructions, and ensuring external lawyers have everything they need to progress matters efficiently.
- Lead witness preparation logistics — owning scheduling, coordinating availability across the business, and ensuring witnesses are fully briefed and supported well ahead of hearings.
- Drive the gathering and supply of data from HR, People Advisory, Finance, and other internal teams, building effective working relationships across functions to ensure the Employment Law Team can respond to litigation demands at pace.
- Serve as the primary operational point of contact for internal teams on litigation matters — triaging queries, providing timely status updates, and ensuring clear and consistent communication across stakeholders.
Financial and Cost Management
- Partner with the Legal Director — Employment to identify, design, and implement cost-saving and efficiency initiatives across external counsel spend — taking ownership of the analytical work that underpins informed, commercially sound decision-making.
- Own rolling budget trackers and provide ongoing financial reporting to enable informed decision-making by OGC and senior stakeholders across the firm.
- Track external counsel spend against matter budgets and firm approval thresholds, preparing matter cost reports for Legal Director review and supporting the preparation of cost estimates and budget updates for active matters.
- Partner with Finance to manage the Employment Law Team's day-to-day financial operations — including ownership of the invoicing process, timely payment of external counsel and third-party suppliers, and monthly accruals updates.
Knowledge, Learning, and Continuous Improvement
- Take ownership of developing and maintaining the team's knowledge infrastructure — including precedents, templates, and playbooks — ensuring it remains a living, accessible resource that supports the team.
- Supporting the preparation of training, materials, and presentations for our stakeholders, supporting lawyers in the delivery of training.
- Legal horizon-scanning and legislative tracking — monitoring developments under the Employment Rights Act and other relevant legislation/case law and flagging implications to the team.
- Design of a structured lessons-learnt process, capturing insights from disputes, restructures, and significant matters — and translating these into improved operational processes, updated guidance, and enhanced team capability.
Presentations and communication
- Design, develop, and own high-quality presentations, reports, and briefing materials for senior leadership — including the UK and EMEA Chief Legal Officer, the CEO, and the Chief Risk Officer — and other stakeholders, translating complex operational, financial, and legal data into clear, compelling narratives for diverse audiences.
- Ensure consistency and quality of all Employment Law Team materials in line with Deloitte brand and communication standards.
- Own the production of written records from Employment Law Team meetings — ensuring decisions, actions, and accountabilities are captured clearly and followed through.
Team co-ordination
- Serve as a central pillar of the Employment Law Team — driving communication, collaboration, and the sharing of best practice, and helping to shape a cohesive and high-performing team culture.
- Support the onboarding of new team members, including induction planning and access to systems and resources.
Connect to your skills and professional experience
- Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent from an accredited university.
- Experience in a legal operations, business management, or operational management role within a complex organization or professional services environment.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly PowerPoint (for presentations) and Excel (for financial and MI reporting).
- Excellent project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Demonstrable experience managing budgets, financial reporting, and working with Finance stakeholders.
- Track record of supporting technology implementation and its use.
- Experience working with legal case management systems (experience with ServiceNow is particularly advantageous) and legal technology platforms. Or, equivalent matter management systems or technology platforms in a non-legal area.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage credibly with senior stakeholders.
- Strong integrity, discretion, professionalism and ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
- A proven ability to navigate the challenges of working across a large organisation with a large variety of stakeholders and able to work in a collaborative manner with all levels within an international organization.
- Open minded approach and ability to evolve and embrace change.
- Excellent interpersonal skills both written and verbal with strong ability to build connections and networks. Excellent drafting and presentation skills and ability to communicate clearly, influence and engage others.

Desirable:
- Demonstrable knowledge of, or experience working within, employment law or an employment litigation environment — including familiarity with Acas Early Conciliation procedures, Employment Tribunal processes, and the litigation lifecycle.
- Experience designing and building management information frameworks and reporting infrastructure, including working with data and technology teams to automate and improve reporting processes.
