If you’re looking for a career that will help you stand out, join HSBC, and fulfil your potential - whether you want a career that could take you to the top, or an exciting new direction, we offer opportunities, support and rewards that will take you further.

We’re one of the largest banking and financial services organisations in the world, with a network that covers more than 50 countries and territories. We aim to be where the growth is, enabling businesses to thrive and economies to prosper, and, ultimately, helping people fulfil their hopes and realise their ambitions.

We’re currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Manager, Leveraged Finance Origination. This role will be based out of 1 Centenary Square, Birmingham.

The HSBC UK Leveraged Finance business is a market leader. We work together to deliver on four key areas: Origination, Execution, Financial Sponsor Coverage & Client Coverage. The customer base is varied and the team is sector agnostic, but most customers are categorised by their Private Equity (PE) ownership rather than size of turnover (clients span the full range from £10m T/O to >£1bn T/O).

Within Leveraged Finance, the LFO team will originate the financing opportunity and then structure the facilities, oversee the due diligence process, obtain the necessary internal approvals including credit approval and negotiate the legal documentation that enables the arranging of the debt financing to support a private equity led investment or acquisition.

As an HSBC employee in the UK, you’ll have access to tailored professional development opportunities and a competitive pay and benefits package. This includes private healthcare for all UK-based employees, enhanced maternity and adoption pay and support when you return to work, and a contributory pension scheme with a generous employer contribution.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
