About the Private Tax Team

The Private Tax team at EY acts for a wide range of entrepreneurial, owner-managed, PE-backed, and AIM-listed businesses, together with their shareholders and management teams. In addition, we serve family offices, private equity and hedge fund principals, large-landed estates, and high-profile professional partnerships.

We aim to be trusted advisers to our clients and deliver a broad range of tax advisory services, including cash tax savings and value creation, reorganisations, international tax advisory, transactions, and ongoing maintenance of the tax structure of our clients. The team is a mix of advisers providing corporate and personal tax services to these businesses, their owners, and management.

The services that we deliver include:

  • Advice to private equity houses and other sponsors and their investee companies on the structuring of management incentive plans both on a transaction and post-transaction
  • Advice to management teams themselves
  • Advice to owner managers and founders on the occasion of a transaction
  • Due diligence exercises on employee share ownership and option plans
  • The structuring and reporting of management incentive plans

Our client base is a mix of private equity and other funds, private companies, and individuals. Our international network results in our team undertaking a high proportion of cross-border tax services.

The Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to join EY’s specialist Management Taxes and Transactions team based in London, Manchester, Glasgow, or Edinburgh. The successful candidate will have an opportunity to work with our excellent existing clients and intermediaries, providing a great opportunity to build and expand their network and be instrumental in winning new business.

Ideally, candidates will have a knowledge of the issues impacting management teams. However, candidates without specific management taxes knowledge are also encouraged to apply given the wide and diverse nature of the role and team that you would be working in. We have successfully integrated individuals from private client, employment taxes, and corporate tax backgrounds in the past.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
