Our client, a global top 10 Sovereign Wealth Fund, is seeking an experienced market data professional to join its Market Data team within the COO office.
You will play a senior role in the governance, commercial management and optimisation of the organisation’s global market data ecosystem. The role will involve managing strategic vendor relationships, leading contract and commercial processes, driving cost optimisation and ensuring effective governance of market data usage, licensing and services across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Vendor Management: Lead relationships with key market data providers, managing service performance, commercial discussions, escalations and long-term vendor strategy.
- Contract & Commercial Management: Lead contract renewals, negotiations and declarations, working closely with Legal, Finance and internal stakeholders to optimise commercial outcomes.
- Market Data Governance: Oversee market data usage, licensing and compliance, ensuring services are aligned with business requirements and contractual obligations.
- Cost Optimisation: Identify opportunities to rationalise market data consumption, consolidate services and improve cost efficiency across the organisation.
- Demand & Inventory Management: Oversee market data requests, subscriptions and inventory, ensuring accurate records and effective challenge of new and existing requirements.
- Reporting & Analysis: Provide senior management with reporting and insights on market data spend, usage, vendor performance and opportunities for improvement.
- Stakeholder Management: Partner with Investment, Technology, Operations, Finance and other business teams to advise on market data requirements, licensing and vendor-related matters.
- Projects & Transformation: Represent Market Data on strategic projects, providing expertise on data provisioning, licensing, vendor implications and commercial considerations.

- Minimum of 10 years’ relevant experience across market data, vendor management, procurement, financial data or related functions, ideally within a leading investment or financial institution.
- Strong experience managing market data vendors, contracts and commercial relationships, with exposure to providers such as Bloomberg, S&P Global, LSEG, MSCI, Moody’s, Fitch and/or FactSet.
- Demonstrated experience leading contract negotiations, renewals, vendor governance and cost optimisation initiatives.
- Strong understanding of market data licensing, usage rights, inventory management and compliance requirements.
- Experience working with senior stakeholders across investment, technology, operations, finance and/or risk functions.
- Strong analytical and commercial acumen, with the ability to identify opportunities to improve efficiency and value from market data expenditure.
- Proven ability to operate independently and lead complex initiatives in a global, multi-stakeholder environment.
- International experience within a leading asset manager, investment institution, sovereign wealth fund, pension fund or comparable financial organisation strongly preferred.
