Manager, Naval Architecture

Navis is partnered with an established, global organisation within the Cruise space that is seeking an experienced Naval Architect to join their shipbuilding team in Southampton. This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in Concept Development for prototype vessels.

In this position, you will act as a subject matter expert, responsible for plan approval, design development and verification across newbuild projects, while also providing technical support to vessels already in service across a range of Naval Architecture disciplines.

You will work closely with shipyards, classification societies, suppliers and internal engineering teams to ensure vessels meet contractual, statutory, class, and technical requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide Naval Architecture expertise across Newbuild & In-Service Vessels.
  • Undertake plan approval, design review, and technical verification of drawings, calculations, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Review shipyard design development, model testing, and technical analysis.
  • Support vessel design, construction, commissioning, sea trials, delivery, dry-docking and warranty activities.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory, classification and company technical requirements.
  • Develop and review ship specifications, technical standards and engineering requirements.
  • Identify and resolve complex technical issues, providing practical and technically robust solutions.
  • Support the evaluation and integration of new technologies and technical improvements.
  • Contribute to energy efficiency, environmental performance and vessel upgrade programmes.
  • Support technical proposals, research and development and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, shipyards, suppliers and classification societies.
  • Share technical knowledge and contribute to the development of best practice within the wider organisation.
  • Support technical documentation, quality assurance, non-conformity resolution and operational readiness of new vessels.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
