Manager of Manufacturing

The Manager of Manufacturing is responsible for the day-to-day leadership and performance of Titan Trailers UK's manufacturing operations, including Welding, Assembly, Paint, and Quality Control. This role ensures the efficient execution of production schedules while meeting safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives.

The Manager of Manufacturing will work closely with the Director of Manufacturing and the UK Management Team to implement operational strategies, improve performance, and support the overall success of the UK operation. The role is accountable for developing supervisors, improving operational efficiency, and ensuring production resources are effectively utilized to meet customer requirements.

Job Duties

  • Lead the daily operations of the UK manufacturing facility, ensuring safety, quality, delivery, and productivity targets are achieved.
  • Manage and coordinate the activities of the Welding, Assembly, Paint, and Quality Control.
  • Develop production plans and ensure departmental resources are aligned to meet customer delivery commitments.
  • Monitor production performance and implement corrective actions to improve efficiency, throughput, and quality.
  • Work closely with UK Management and the Director of Manufacturing to align operational priorities with company objectives.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and performance management to supervisors and department leaders.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, continuous improvement, and employee engagement.
  • Ensure welding and fabrication activities comply with engineering specifications, quality requirements, and safety standards.
  • Oversee assembly operations to ensure products are manufactured efficiently and meet customer expectations.
  • Manage paint operations to ensure product finish quality, production schedules, and material usage targets are achieved.
  • Lead quality control activities, including inspections, audits, root cause investigations, and corrective action programs.
  • Ensure all products meet Titan quality standards and customer specifications prior to shipment.
  • Coordinate with the inventory control department to ensure inventory accuracy, cycle counts, material flow, and inventory management practices.
  • Collaborate with Purchasing and Supply Chain teams to address material shortages and support production requirements.
  • Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for safety, quality, productivity, inventory accuracy, and on-time delivery.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost reductions throughout the manufacturing operation.
  • Support capital equipment, tooling, facility improvement, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies, health and safety requirements, environmental regulations, and applicable legislation.
  • Participate in budget planning and support efforts to control operational costs and improve overall performance.
  • Support recruitment, training, succession planning, and employee development initiatives within the operation.
  • Conduct regular departmental meetings and communicate company objectives, expectations, and operational results.
  • Promote a safe and professional work environment and ensure employees have the tools and training required to perform their roles successfully.
  • Perform other duties as required to support the success of Titan Trailers UK.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in business, operations management, manufacturing, sales, or a related field is preferred.
  • Previous senior management experience in a manufacturing, dealership, transportation equipment, industrial, or related business environment.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, manage direct reports, and drive accountability across multiple business functions.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing operations, customer relations, operational performance, and business growth.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other divisions and cross-functional teams to achieve company-wide objectives.
  • Strong commercial awareness with the ability to identify growth opportunities in the UK market.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills.
  • Sound analytical, planning, prioritization, and execution skills.
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, accountability, and professionalism.

Additional Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in Operations Management, Manufacturing, Engineering, Business, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum five years of manufacturing leadership experience in a production environment.
  • Proven experience leading supervisors and cross-functional production teams.
  • Strong understanding of welding, fabrication, assembly, paint operations, quality systems, and inventory control.
  • Experience implementing continuous improvement and operational excellence initiatives.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills.

Working Conditions

  • Ability to attend and conduct meetings with peers, employees, customers, suppliers, dealers, and other Titan divisions.
  • Combination of office, production, customer, dealer, and supplier environments.
  • Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals.
  • Overtime and schedule flexibility may be required to meet business needs.
