Manager – Real Estate Finance, Real Estate Debt Investment Manager

London (Hybrid)

The Opportunity

Our client is a leading UK real estate debt platform with a strong track record of providing senior secured development finance across residential, commercial and alternative sectors.

With billions deployed across UK real estate and backing from leading institutional investors, the business is entering an exciting phase of growth, expanding both its lending platform and institutional capital partnerships. This is an opportunity to join a highly respected, entrepreneurial team with an outstanding reputation for execution, credit quality and long-term borrower relationships.

They are seeking a Manager to play a key role in originating, underwriting, executing and managing complex real estate debt transactions.

Working closely with Directors and Managing Directors, you will take ownership of transactions throughout the full lending lifecycle while helping mentor junior members of the team.

The Role

This is a broad front-office role with responsibility across origination support, underwriting, execution and portfolio management.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on senior development loans typically ranging from £10m–£100m across a broad range of sectors including:

  • Residential
  • Build-to-Rent
  • Student Accommodation
  • Hotels
  • Healthcare
  • Office
  • Industrial

You will work directly with experienced senior lenders and borrowers on some of the UK's most significant development projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage transactions through the full deal lifecycle, from initial assessment through to repayment.
  • Undertake financial analysis, underwriting and detailed credit assessment of new lending opportunities.
  • Build and maintain complex financial models.
  • Prepare investment papers and credit memoranda for internal approval.
  • Conduct sponsor, market and asset-level due diligence.
  • Lead transaction execution following credit approval, coordinating lawyers, valuers, project monitors, insurance advisers and other stakeholders.
  • Manage borrower relationships throughout the life of the loan.
  • Monitor portfolio performance and identify emerging risks.
  • Work closely with internal Legal, Finance and Risk teams.
  • Support and mentor junior team members where appropriate.

About You

You'll have a strong background in real estate finance with experience gained within a bank, debt fund or alternative lender.

We're looking for someone with:

  • Proven experience underwriting and executing UK real estate lending transactions.
  • Strong understanding of the full lending lifecycle.
  • Experience structuring senior development finance facilities.
  • Excellent credit analysis skills.
  • Advanced financial modelling capability.
  • Experience across development and value-add transactions.
  • Strong commercial judgement and attention to detail.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
