This is an exciting opportunity to join the Belfast UK&I Consulting Quality Team within the firm.
The Quality Team ensures adoption and application of EY’s global policies, procedures, methods, tools, and principles to maintain high service standards. Working in Belfast, reporting to the Belfast Team Leader, the successful candidate will provide cross-functional support, including:
- Operational risk management
- Contract compliance & bid documentation review
- Stakeholder coordination with Legal, Independence, and Business Resilience teams
Key Responsibilities
The candidate will: ✅ Have experience with general UK contracting terms, operational risk mitigation design, and senior stakeholder management. ✅ Specify professional services/legal sector experience (excluding financial services or AML compliance).

Core Duties:

Resolving operational & contractual queries across:
- Business relationships
- Liability risk
- Regulatory/Auditor Independence
- Data Protection & Third-Party Risk
- Terms & Conditions, NDAs, and Data Protection agreements
- Contracting/sub-contracting best practices

Review and advise on complex client agreements, Statements of Work, NDAs, and contractual documents in alignment with EY’s negotiation guidelines.

Escalate & manage operational/contractual risks, liaising with General Counsel or relevant parties as needed.

Develop solutions for Quality process improvements, risk mitigation frameworks, and contracting practices.

Monitor regulatory independence during negotiations and lead risk mitigation assessments.
Required Skills & Attributes
To succeed, the ideal candidate should demonstrate:
- Situational awareness—unpack complex queries efficiently without delay.
- Intellectual flexibility and commercial acumen to address intricate risk/contracting issues.
- Example: Ability to query documents across Indebtedness, Data Retention Policies, or Regulatory Scopes.
- Stakeholder engagement—collaborate with Senior Partners, Independence teams, and Risk Management to resolve ambiguous matters.
- Influence without authority—shape firm-wide Quality and Risk Management practices.
- Tactful communication—graciously address complex situations, balancing consultative empathy with decisive litigation-ready decision-making.
- Training and influencing technique experience—articulate critical feedback persuasively using varied methods.
