Role Overview
House & Garden is looking for a strategic Social Media Manager to lead our day-to-day social presence and help grow our audiences across Instagram, Pinterest, TikTok, Facebook and other relevant platforms.
This is a role for someone with a strong visual eye and analytical mind, who understands how to turn beautiful editorial content into engaging, platform-native storytelling. You will help shape how House & Garden looks and feels across social, while developing new ways to grow our audience and deepen engagement.

You’ll work closely with the editorial, digital and strategy team curating content around our homes, decoration, gardens and lifestyle coverage.
Photo and video editing experience is advantageous.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the day-to-day social publishing, scheduling and optimisation across key platforms.
- Report regularly on performance, looking at results by platform, format and content type, and turn these insights into clear recommendations.
- Develop clear content pillars and recurring social franchises that create a consistent and engaging mix of content.
- Select, edit and adapt photography, video and editorial assets for different platforms.
- Help define and evolve House & Garden’s distinctive visual identity across social, with a particular focus on photography, composition and overall aesthetic.
- Create and develop social-first formats including Reels, TikToks, carousels, Stories and posts.
- Work with editors to identify stories with strong social potential.
- Build and manage the social content calendar around editorial priorities, seasonal moments and key events.
- Identify trends and new platform opportunities that feel relevant to the House & Garden brand.
- Develop ideas to grow followers, engagement, saves and shares, while building a loyal and engaged audience.
- Use social data and audience insight to understand what is working and where there are opportunities to improve.
- Test new ideas, formats and approaches and use the results to continually refine the social strategy.
About You
- Proven experience managing social media for a visual, editorial, lifestyle or premium brand.
- A highly developed visual eye and strong understanding of photography, aesthetics and visual storytelling.
- A track record of growing social audiences and increasing engagement.
- Strong knowledge of all social media platforms and an understanding of how content needs to change across platforms.
- Confident creating and editing social-first video and visual assets.
- Proficient at using content creation apps like Canva, Capcut and other relevant content editing (static and video) tools.
- Excellent copywriting skills and strong editorial judgement.
- Comfortable working with analytics and using data to inform creative and social strategy.
- Able to develop content pillars, franchises and ideas that audiences return to.
- Highly organised, proactive self-starter and comfortable managing multiple projects and deadlines.
- A genuine passion for interiors, gardens and design.
