About the Role

As a Development Manager, Data Services, you will lead a team of engineers responsible for delivering sprint and release commitments aligned to the agreed roadmap. You will combine people leadership with delivery excellence, ensuring your team is supported, engaged, and focused on achieving high-quality outcomes.

Working closely with Product Owners, Architects, and Engineering leaders, you will help translate strategic priorities into achievable plans while driving operational excellence, continuous improvement, and reliable service delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Own delivery of the team's sprint and release commitments against the agreed roadmap.
  • Translate priorities set by senior leadership into sprint plans, tickets and achievable milestones.
  • Coordinate day-to-day delivery across the team, managing blockers, dependencies and capacity.
  • Ensure work is delivered to agreed quality, coding and testing standards.
  • Identify and flag delivery risks early, escalating where they exceed the team's control.
  • Track and report on sprint progress, velocity and delivery health to the wider DS leadership.
  • Line-manage, coach and develop a team of engineers.
  • Act as the delivery point of contact for the team's area of work.

Requirements

  • Experience leading engineering teams and supporting their performance, wellbeing and development.
  • Ability to translate strategic priorities into clear delivery plans and executable milestones.
  • Experience managing sprint delivery, release commitments, dependencies and team capacity.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Ability to identify, assess and escalate delivery risks appropriately.
  • Understanding of engineering quality standards, testing practices and operational excellence.
  • Experience supporting recruitment, onboarding and team development activities.
  • Commitment to fostering collaboration, ownership and continuous improvement.
