Manager - Energy - International Tax
Open to Flexible Working
The Opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity to join our International Tax and Transaction Services (ITTS) practice as a Manager within our market-leading Energy team. You will work with a wide range of clients across the Energy sector, including traditional energy businesses, renewables, infrastructure investors and private equity-backed organisations, supporting them on complex international tax matters, cross-border transactions and transformational projects.
The Energy sector is undergoing significant change, with the energy transition creating opportunities across renewables, infrastructure, emerging technologies and traditional energy markets. As a Manager, you will play an important role in helping clients navigate these challenges, delivering high-quality advice and supporting the continued growth of our Energy practice.
Working alongside highly regarded Partners, Directors and Senior Managers, you will help manage client relationships, deliver technically strong and commercially focused advice, and support opportunities across some of the most interesting transactions and projects in the market.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Manage and support relationships with Energy sector clients, acting as a key day-to-day contact for tax, finance and wider stakeholder teams.
- Lead the delivery of international tax and transaction advisory projects, ensuring high-quality technical output and a commercial, pragmatic approach.
- Support Partners, Directors and Senior Managers in identifying, developing and converting new client opportunities.
- Manage workstreams on cross-border advisory engagements, coordinating input from colleagues across service lines, sectors and jurisdictions.
- Review and develop technical analysis, advice and deliverables across UK and international corporate tax matters.
- Support the management of engagement economics, billing, risk processes and overall project delivery.
- Contribute to Energy sector initiatives, business development activity and internal market-facing campaigns.
- Build strong internal and external relationships across EY’s network to support integrated client delivery.
- Coach, supervise and develop junior team members, helping to create an inclusive and high-performing team environment.
- Contribute to innovation, technology adoption and continuous improvement across engagements and internal processes.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
