Manager - Supply Chain & Operations
A globally renowned technology and business consulting firm is looking for a Manager to join its Supply Chain & Operations practice - with a specific focus on warehouse automation, intralogistics, and solution design.
This is a client-facing consulting role, not a warehouse operations role. You'll help clients who don't have in-house capital infrastructure teams design, assess, and implement automated warehouse and distribution solutions - leading projects end-to-end, from initial concept and RFP through to business case, contract, and implementation support.
What you'll be doing
- Understanding client infrastructure requirements and translating them into clear design options, costs, and timelines
- Designing end-to-end warehouse solutions - process, layout, automation technology, systems, and operating model
- Assessing and comparing automation options (AS/RS, AMRs, robotics, conveyors, sortation, goods-to-person)
- Developing future-state blueprints, including functional requirements and high-level technical architecture
- Building robust business cases and ROI models for automation investment
- Creating RFPs and managing the tender process, and advising clients through vendor/contract negotiation
- Providing oversight and assurance during implementation, working alongside integrators and vendors
- Validating analyst outputs to ensure data integrity and translating complex data into a clear, correct narrative for senior client stakeholders
- Managing project teams and workstreams, coaching consultants and senior consultants
- Contributing to proposals, pitches and the ongoing development of the firm's warehouse automation offering

What we're looking for
- Proven experience leading warehouse automation or intralogistics projects from concept through to contract - this could come from a large retailer's internal capital projects/infrastructure team, a major materials handling equipment (MHE) or automation vendor, or a consultancy with a strong supply chain infrastructure practice
- Strong understanding of core warehouse processes: inbound, storage, picking, packing, outbound, returns
- Experience designing or assessing automated warehouse solutions and supporting technology selection
- Ability to build business cases and financial models for supply chain capital investment
- Strong stakeholder management and senior client-facing communication skills
- A structured, analytical, and genuinely hands-on approach to problem-solving

- Involvement in the delivery/implementation phase of a previous automation project (this experience directly informs better design)
- Exposure to WMS, WCS, or WES platforms - whether through implementation or vendor selection
- Experience working with large-scale distribution centres, or omni-channel/e-commerce fulfilment environments
- Relationships with automation vendors or system integrators
- Broader supply chain transformation exposure (network design, planning, S&OP, operating models)

You'll be joining a team that's less formal than typical career consulting, with a direct and collaborative culture. There are no sales targets attached to this role - delivery is key.
Practicalities
- Home-based role with significant client-site travel required as standard - this is a non-negotiable part of the role
- Base salary up to £95k + package
