Private Client - Managing Associate/Legal Director (6+PQE)

Tier 2 Legal 500

Leeds City Centre | Hybrid Working | Competitive Salary

An established Tier 2 Legal 500 Private Client practice based in Leeds is looking for a Director-level or Managing Associate lawyer to work alongside the department's Partners on growing the private client offering locally, while running a full private client caseload in their own right.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Working closely with Partners and other fee earners in the team
  • Running your own caseload while providing supervisory oversight to more junior colleagues across a broad spread of private client work
  • Preparing tailored Wills, incorporating trust arrangements designed around inheritance tax planning and asset protection, and overseeing execution formalities
  • Advising on international estate planning, including Wills with a cross-border element
  • Advising on succession planning for family and owner-managed businesses
  • Establishing and administering Trusts and advising Trustees
  • Collaborating cross-departmentally
  • Liaising with tax accountants and other advisers on HMRC-related compliance, and coordinating with wealth managers and financial planners
  • Administering Estates including high-value estates involving business interests and assets held abroad
  • Advising beneficiaries on succession matters
  • Advising on, and handling registration of, Lasting Powers of Attorney
  • Working through technically complex matters requiring research and input from colleagues
  • Delegating and overseeing the work of junior team members as needed
  • Contributing to business development and networking
