Mission

Own client engagements end to end. Hold the relationship, set the strategy, design the solution, and deliver it with a team you direct. Grow the accounts you hold and help win the next ones.

Why this role exists

This is a player-coach hybrid. Splitting a senior consultant into a strategist and a technical lead costs more than it saves, and the accounts that need both do not respect the split anyway.

This person is credible in a CMO's office and credible in a CDP workspace. They present a roadmap on Tuesday and debug identity resolution on Wednesday.

Three problems this role solves:

  • Clients get relationship coverage and technical coverage from different people, and outside North America, at the wrong hour.
  • Expansion happens late, because the person who sees the opportunity cannot price it.
  • Pre-sales competes with delivery for the same few senior people.

Responsibilities

Account ownership

  • Own the relationship. You are the primary contact and the person an executive calls when they are unhappy.
  • Run the cadence: biweekly client meetings, monthly roadmap and SOW reviews, quarterly business reviews.
  • Keep three or more months of planned work on the roadmap for every account.
  • Protect the budget. Flag pacing, overages, and under-use as soon as the trend appears.

Strategy

  • Find where the client's revenue leaks across acquisition, conversion, and retention. Tie every recommendation to a metric and a business outcome.
  • Build growth roadmaps with the client, not at them.
  • Show what moving to a stage of maturity is worth to them.

Technical leadership and hands-on work

  • Design the stack architecture: CDP, analytics, lifecycle messaging, warehouse, and the integrations between them.
  • Do the strategic hands-on work yourself: taxonomy design, measurement plans, attribution modeling, segmentation logic, QA of critical builds.
  • Direct engineers and contract developers. Review their work before it reaches the client.
  • Delegate on purpose. Your time is worth more on strategy than on tag deployment. Know where that line sits on each account.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

New business

  • Supports some pre-sales discovery to identify opportunities and needs.
  • Build the proposal: scope, phasing, level of effort, and the business case. Present it live. We do not send proposals cold.
  • Price work so it stays profitable. An accurate estimate beats a heroic recovery in month four.
  • Support the Sales team through the close, and take the account into delivery where it makes sense.

Commercial

  • Every scope change gets estimated, documented, and confirmed in writing before work starts.
  • Drive expansion on your portfolio. You are measured on it.

Skills and experience

Required

  • Fully fluent in English. That is the company's working language.

  • 8+ years in consulting, agency, or professional services. At least 4 owning client relationships directly.

  • Understand the full marketing lifecycle: demand generation, nurturing, acquisition, retention, and growth. You can tell a client which stage is costing them money, and why.

  • Understand how martech drives marketing, from ads to CDPs to marketing engagement platforms, CRM, and analytics.

  • Advise on the systems below, not just use them. Which tool fits, how the pieces connect, what each costs to run badly, and how to get more from what a client already owns. High-level familiarity is not enough here.

  • Review a funnel report, a cohort, and an attribution model, and challenge what they claim.

  • Track record retaining and growing accounts, with numbers you can describe.

  • Pre-sales experience: discovery, scoping, and proposals you then delivered against.

  • GDPR and consent handled as part of the work.

  • Systems. Depth in at least three groups, working familiarity with the rest.

    • Customer data platforms: Segment, Hightouch, RudderStack
    • Analytics: Amplitude, Mixpanel, GA4
    • Lifecycle and marketing automation: Braze, Customer.io, HubSpot, Marketo, Iterable
    • Warehouse and transformation: Snowflake, BigQuery, dbt
    • Tag management: Google Tag Manager, server-side GTM
    • CRM: Salesforce, HubSpot
    • Consent management: OneTrust, Cookiebot, Didomi

Preferred

  • Multilingual with professional working proficiency in English as well as German, French, Spanish, or Italian.
  • Engagements across multiple countries or regulatory regimes.
  • Work across both European and North American clients.

What you get out of this

  • Many stacks in a year instead of one stack in five. Different industries, scale, and failure modes.
  • The customer data layer is changing right now. Warehouse-native patterns, composable CDPs, and reverse ETL are replacing a decade of assumptions. You build on the new pattern.
  • We work across the full client stack, not just individual systems or specific vendors. You see how it all fits together, which is where the hard problems are visible.
  • You own the full commercial arc of an account, from discovery through renewal. At a larger firm that is three people's jobs.
  • Both the European and North American markets from one seat.

Observable indicators

Month 2

  • Onboarded onto your accounts and current on every tool in their stacks.
  • Time tracked in Harvest weekly, without reminders.
  • Every account has a current-state assessment and named client objectives.

Month 4

  • Running your accounts independently: meetings, roadmap reviews, scope conversations.
  • Every account has three or more months of planned roadmap.
  • Zero undocumented scope changes.
  • Labor efficiency ratio of 2.5 or better across your portfolio.
  • Contributing scope and estimates to proposals.

Month 6

  • 90% of client objectives hit within the project timeline.
  • Client approval for a case study or testimonial on at least one account.
  • Labor efficiency ratio of 3.0 across your portfolio.
  • Running discovery and writing proposals end to end.

Month 9

  • 80% retention of your accounts in recurring contracts over a rolling three months.
  • One account expanded in scope or revenue, sourced and priced by you.
  • Your proposals deliver at or above target labor efficiency. Your estimates hold up.

What this role is not

  • Not a pure strategy seat. You will be in the tools. If you have not touched an implementation in three years, this will not go well.
  • Not a pure technical seat. About half your week is relationship, strategy, and commercial work.
  • Not a prospecting seat. You run discovery, write proposals, own expansion, and earn commission on it. You do not cold prospect.
  • Not a management seat at hire. You direct a project team. Direct reports come later, if the business grows and you have shown you can.

Values

  • Never Settle, Be Amazing. Fix it properly, not just enough to close the ticket.
  • Get Better Every Day. Ask for feedback and change what you do when you get it.
  • Give Context and Set the Stage. Nobody on your account is surprised by what you already knew.
  • Let the Data Create Transparency. Recommendations come with evidence. So does bad news.
  • Show Hospitality to Build Trust. Clients and teammates get proactive, responsive treatment.
  • Plus extreme ownership. Own the outcome, surface blockers early, and never hand a problem back to the person who gave it to you.

Benefits

  • Engaged as a full time contractor. These follow our current international contractor terms.
  • Flexible PTO
  • Flexible hours
  • Work remotely
  • Monthly per diem for premium health, dental, and vision coverage if not already available
  • Maternity and paternity leave
  • Retirement contribution of 3% of salary annually.
  • Company laptop, monitor, and remote setup equipment
  • National holidays off.
  • Radically transparent workplace
  • Room to act on your own ideas

The job in practice

McGaw is a customer data and revenue operations consultancy. Clients come to us with traffic, tools, and data, and no system connecting them. We find where revenue leaks across acquisition, conversion, and retention, then we fix it with our hands on the keyboards.

The CDP is the center of most of our work. We build on Segment, Hightouch, and RudderStack, chosen per client. We work across the full client stack, not just individual systems or specific vendors.
