Managing Director

Location: West Midlands
Reporting to: Board of Directors / Investors
Salary: Circa £100k - £120k + Package + Options

This is a unique and career-defining opportunity for a highly commercial and growth-focused leader to take the helm of an established and respected diversified heating solutions group. The group is poised for significant scaling. We are seeking an exceptional Managing Director to lead this charge, driving market share growth through strategic initiatives, including business acquisitions, new product development, and international expansion. You will be the architect of the next phase of the group's evolution, transforming its strong legacy into a future of ambitious growth.

Role Overview

As the Managing Director, you will hold full P&L accountability and be responsible for the strategic, commercial, and operational leadership of the entire group. Your primary focus will be to build a robust growth engine, driving revenue, profitability, and long-term enterprise value. You will balance the precision required for operational excellence with the vision necessary to identify and execute transformative commercial opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive growth strategy, identifying and capitalising on opportunities for organic growth, new market penetration, and diversification.
  • Lead the identification, due diligence, and integration of strategic business acquisitions to expand market share, enter new segments, or acquire complementary technologies.
  • Drive international growth, particularly by leveraging the group's proven solutions for new geographic markets.
  • Champion innovation, working with technical teams to develop new product solutions that address emerging market needs, such as energy efficiency, retrofit compatibility, and hybrid systems.
  • Oversee the commercial strategy, including pricing, sales, and marketing, to ensure a robust pipeline of opportunities and effective monetisation of the installed base.
  • Assume full responsibility for the group’s profit and loss, delivering against ambitious revenue and EBITDA targets.
  • Lead the annual budgeting and long-range forecasting process, ensuring financial discipline and efficient capital allocation.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance business value, working closely with investors to ensure alignment on key performance indicators.
  • Provide strategic direction to the manufacturing operations, driving a culture of efficiency, quality, and continuous improvement across all production facilities.
  • Ensure the group’s integrated model (manufacturing, system integration, consultancy) operates seamlessly, delivering high-quality solutions on time and within budget.
  • Build, mentor, and inspire a high-performing senior leadership team. Drive a culture of high performance, accountability, and entrepreneurial spirit throughout the organisation.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for investors, providing transparent communication, robust reporting, and strategic updates on the group's performance and growth trajectory.
  • Maintain and strengthen relationships with key clients, partners, and industry stakeholders, representing the group as a leading voice in the sector.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
