Managing Director – Sports Marketing
Location: London (Hybrid)
A high-growth, award-winning digital sports marketing agency is seeking a commercially driven Managing Director to lead strategic direction, operational performance, and business growth. This role sits at the forefront of fan engagement, content, and digital innovation, partnering with global sports brands, rights holders, and entertainment organizations.
The ideal candidate will be an expert in the Sports fandom / rights / content / engagement space and will have a track record working with teams, leagues, federations, and brands on how to create groundbreaking partnerships in the space.
Responsibilities:
- Define and deliver short, mid, and long-term business strategy aligned to growth and client impact
- Lead cross-functional teams across creative, production, strategy, and client services to ensure best-in-class delivery
- Drive operational excellence through clear processes, KPIs, and performance management
- Own P&L, ensuring profitability, scalability, and sustainable growth
- Identify and convert new business opportunities across global sports and entertainment clients
- Strengthen existing client partnerships, expanding services and long-term value
- Champion innovation across digital content, social, video, and fan engagement
- Build and mentor a high-performing leadership team, fostering a collaborative and inclusive culture

Mandatory Requirements:

- Proven leadership experience within sports marketing, media, or digital agency environments
- Evidence of full P&L ownership, budget allocation, and tight control on margin (mandatory)
- Previous team management experience of companies of at least +100 headcount
- Strong commercial acumen with a track record of driving revenue growth and operational scale
- Deep understanding of fan engagement strategies, digital platforms, and content ecosystems
- Contact book of senior global rightsholders
- Experience managing senior stakeholders and large, multidisciplinary teams
