Chilworth Partnership is delighted to be partnering on an exclusive, retained basis, to appoint a Managing Director for a market leading, owner managed business, established for over 40 years.
Business:
Achieving annual revenue of circa £7m and operating within the bespoke manufacturing industry, the business has developed a reputation for quality, agility and pace. Whilst targeted in their approach, there is continued appetite for organic growth via export markets and product innovation.
Managing Director: Remit
- Lead the business in partnership with the Board, delivering strategic objectives and driving sustainable growth, profitability, and long-term value.
- Provide overall leadership of the organisation, with full accountability for operational, commercial, and financial performance, including P&L, cash flow, and business planning.
- Drive operational excellence across manufacturing, ensuring efficient, safe, and high-quality production through continuous improvement, cost control, and productivity enhancements.
- Develop the business commercially by working with the Sales Director to grow existing markets, develop new opportunities, strengthen customer relationships, and support product innovation.
- Lead and develop people, fostering a high-performance culture built on quality, craftsmanship, accountability, and continuous improvement, while supporting succession planning and capability development.
- Oversee supply chain, procurement, quality, and compliance, ensuring resilient supplier partnerships, effective inventory management, regulatory compliance, and sustainable business practices.
- Champion health, safety, and environmental standards, ensuring a safe workplace and compliance with all relevant legislation and industry standard.

Managing Director: Requirement
- Proven leadership experience within a small to medium sized Manufacturing business, be it in an operational or financial capacity.
- Strong operational understanding of Manufacturing environments, including H&S.
- In depth experience of driving financial performance, software and processes.
- First class leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate with all levels of stakeholders.
- An Engineering related degree or accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) is desirable.
