Role Description
The Managing Director is a full-time, on-site leadership role based in the London Area, United Kingdom. This role oversees the overall strategic direction, operational performance, and commercial growth of The Basic Ingredients Ltd, ensuring alignment with the company’s values on clean label products, food safety, sustainability, and ethical trading.

- Leading senior managers
- Setting and monitoring business targets
- Managing budgets and resources
- Driving continuous improvement across supply chain, production, and sales
- Building and maintaining relationships with key suppliers, regulatory bodies, and strategic partners
- Ensuring compliance with food safety, non-GMO, and environmental standards
- Representing the company externally
- Cultivating a high-performance culture
- Making data-informed decisions to support long-term business resilience
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in senior leadership or Managing Director-level roles within food, FMCG, or related industries.
- Strong strategic planning, business development, and commercial acumen, including P&L management and budgeting.
- Knowledge of food safety standards and regulatory frameworks (e.g., GFSI, BRC, EU food legislation) and compliance management.
- Experience in supply chain, procurement, and sustainability initiatives, including packaging reduction and non-GMO sourcing.
- Proven ability to lead diverse teams, foster inclusive workplaces, and drive performance through coaching and clear objectives.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills with suppliers, clients, and regulatory bodies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and translate insights into action.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Food Science, Supply Chain Management, or a related field; advanced degree is an advantage.
