The Opportunity

LOBA Group has been exclusively retained to appoint a Managing Director for a well-established and highly respected construction business operating across the UK and Ireland.

With decades of success delivering technically complex projects, the company has built an enviable reputation for quality, reliability and long-term client partnerships. As the business continues to expand into high-growth sectors, including major mission-critical infrastructure, this appointment will play a pivotal role in shaping the next phase of its development.

This is a rare opportunity to take full executive responsibility for a profitable business with an excellent reputation, strong leadership team and a healthy pipeline of secured work.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Board, the Managing Director will assume full responsibility for the overall performance of the business, providing strategic direction while ensuring operational excellence across all functions.

The successful individual will lead a well-established senior management team, driving commercial growth, strengthening client relationships and ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and profitably.

This is a hands-on leadership role requiring both strategic vision and operational capability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the long-term strategic plan for the business.
  • Lead all operational and commercial functions to achieve sustainable growth.
  • Drive profitability through effective financial and commercial management.
  • Build and strengthen relationships with key clients, consultants and supply chain partners.
  • Identify new market opportunities and support business development initiatives.
  • Ensure projects are delivered to the highest standards of quality, safety and customer satisfaction.
  • Foster a high-performance culture across the organisation through effective leadership and people development.
  • Oversee business planning, forecasting and financial performance.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives across operations, manufacturing and project delivery.
  • Represent the business with clients, industry stakeholders and strategic partners.

The Candidate

We are seeking an accomplished senior executive with a proven track record of leading complex construction or engineering businesses.

You will bring:

  • Previous experience in a Managing Director, Regional Director, Business Unit Director or Operations Director position.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen, including full P&L responsibility.
  • Experience leading multi-disciplinary operational teams.
  • A background within construction, engineering, manufacturing or a related project-led environment.
  • A proven ability to deliver business growth while maintaining operational excellence.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • The ability to build long-term client relationships and develop new business opportunities.
  • A collaborative leadership style with the credibility to inspire teams across all levels of the organisation.
