Managing Director

Component Distribution & Supply Chain
Cambridgeshire | SME

Select Talent Group (STG) is delighted to be partnering with a growing distribution business to appoint its next Managing Director.

This is a true standalone leadership role with full end-to-end P&L responsibility. You will lead the commercial, supply chain and operational agenda - building on a strong platform, developing the team and driving profitable, sustainable growth.

The business provides specialist sourcing, materials management, inventory solutions, component assurance and wider supply-chain services to customers operating in complex and regulated sectors. With strong market demand and a clear growth plan, this is an opportunity for an ambitious leader to shape the next stage of the business.

The Role

Reporting to the divisional CEO, the Managing Director will take ownership of the business unit’s performance, strategy and long-term direction.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Full P&L ownership, including revenue, gross margin, EBITDA, cash generation and working capital.
  • Leading the commercial strategy, retaining and growing key accounts while developing new customer opportunities and value-added service offerings.
  • Overseeing the end-to-end supply chain, including sourcing, purchasing, supplier management, inventory, planning, warehousing and customer delivery.
  • Building strong supplier relationships to improve availability, traceability, service and margin.
  • Improving operational performance, stock control, OTIF delivery, inventory governance and cash conversion.
  • Developing and leading a capable multi-functional team across commercial, purchasing, supply chain, operations and quality.
  • Supporting the development of new capabilities and service lines within sourcing, assurance and wider supply-chain solutions.
  • Working closely with the wider Group and Board to deliver the investment and growth plan.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
