Managing Director - Building Products

We are seeking an experienced and commercially driven Managing Director to lead a $80M+ Building Products business operating across multiple locations throughout the United Kingdom.

The business employs more than 400 people supporting the building products and construction sectors.

This is a significant full P&L leadership position with responsibility for business performance, commercial growth, operational excellence, customer relationships, people leadership, and the continued development of the UK business.

The successful candidate will be an accomplished General Manager, Managing Director, or Business Unit President with a strong commercial orientation and a proven track record of growing a complex, multi-site business. Ideally, they will have experience within Building Products, Construction, Engineering, or an adjacent industrial environment.

The organization is entering an important phase of growth, making this an opportunity for a leader who can combine strategic thinking with hands-on operational leadership and a strong focus on revenue and profitability.

Key Responsibilities

Full P&L Leadership

  • Assume overall responsibility for the financial and operational performance of the Intertek UK Building Products business.
  • Lead an $80M+ P&L with accountability for revenue growth, EBITDA, margin improvement, cash generation, and overall business performance.
  • Develop and execute the UK business strategy in alignment with broader Group objectives.
  • Establish clear financial and operational objectives across the organization and hold the leadership team accountable for delivering results.
  • Identify opportunities to improve business performance through organic growth, operational efficiencies, pricing, productivity, and strategic investment.

Commercial Growth

  • Lead the commercial strategy for the UK business with a strong emphasis on sustainable revenue growth.
  • Identify opportunities to expand market share across building products, construction, testing, inspection, certification, and related technical services.
  • Develop and strengthen relationships with major customers, industry stakeholders, manufacturers, contractors, certification bodies, and other strategic partners.
  • Drive pricing strategy, customer retention, cross-selling, new business development, and expansion into adjacent markets.
  • Build a high-performance commercial culture across the organization.
  • Evaluate potential acquisitions, partnerships, and other opportunities that support the company's growth strategy.

Multi-Site Operations

  • Provide leadership across multiple UK locations,
  • Ensure consistent operational standards, processes, quality, safety, and customer service across the network.
  • Establish appropriate performance metrics and operating disciplines across all sites.
  • Identify opportunities to improve utilization, productivity, capacity, turnaround times, and profitability.
  • Ensure the business has the infrastructure, technology, equipment, and capabilities required to support future growth.
  • Promote collaboration and best-practice sharing across the UK site network.

Required Experience

  • Proven experience leading a substantial business with full P&L accountability.
  • Experience managing a business of significant scale, ideally $50M+ in revenue and 300+ employees.
  • Strong commercial background with a demonstrated record of revenue growth and profitability improvement.
  • Experience leading multiple operational sites or business units.
  • Demonstrated success developing and executing business-growth strategies.
  • Strong financial acumen, including experience managing budgets, margins, pricing, capital investment, and profitability.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop senior management teams.
  • Strong customer-facing and relationship-management skills.
  • Experience managing organizational change and continuous improvement.
