Managing Director – Data Centres & Critical Infrastructure

The Opportunity
We are retained by an established and growing data centre and critical infrastructure business to appoint an experienced Managing Director to lead the organisation through its next phase of growth.
The business operates within one of the UK’s fastest-growing infrastructure markets, delivering specialist services and solutions across the data centre environment.
This is a high-impact leadership position for an ambitious executive who can combine commercial strategy, operational excellence, and strong people leadership to build on an established platform and accelerate growth.
The Role
Reporting directly to the Board, the Managing Director will take overall responsibility for the company’s commercial, operational, and financial performance, while setting the strategic direction for the next stage of its development.
You will lead a talented senior team and work closely with major customers, investors, delivery partners, and key stakeholders across the data centre ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
- Developing and executing the company’s growth strategy.
- Full P&L and commercial responsibility for the business.
- Driving revenue growth, profitability, and sustainable market expansion.
- Developing relationships with major data centre operators, developers, contractors, and technology partners.
- Identifying new market opportunities and developing strategic partnerships.
- Leading commercial strategy, business development, and key account management.
- Ensuring projects and operations are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.
- Developing robust operational processes capable of supporting continued business growth.
- Building and maintaining a high-performing senior leadership team.
- Establishing clear KPIs and accountability across the organisation.
- Overseeing major programmes, contracts, and strategic customer relationships.
- Managing commercial, operational, supply-chain, and business continuity risks.
- Supporting investment decisions and future acquisitions or expansion opportunities.
- Representing the company at Board, customer, and industry level.
- Ensuring the business maintains the required standards across H&S, quality, compliance, security, and critical infrastructure requirements.

The Candidate
We are looking for a proven senior executive with a track record of leading an engineering, construction, facilities, technology, or critical infrastructure business.
Data centre experience is highly desirable, although candidates from adjacent critical infrastructure environments will be considered.
You will ideally bring:
- Previous experience as a Managing Director, General Manager, Business Unit Director, Operations Director, or equivalent.
- Significant P&L and commercial responsibility.
- Experience leading a technically complex or project-driven organisation.
- A strong understanding of the data centre, mission-critical, or critical infrastructure sector.
- Experience dealing with major customers and complex contractual environments.
- A demonstrable track record of business growth and commercial development.
- Strong financial and strategic acumen.
- Experience managing senior leadership teams.
- Excellent stakeholder management and negotiation skills.
- A strong understanding of operational risk, H&S, quality, and compliance.
- The ability to operate effectively at Board level while remaining commercially engaged with the wider business.

Experience working with major data centre operators, developers, hyperscalers, Tier 1 contractors, or specialist mission-critical suppliers would be advantageous.
