About Us

We are a private investment group building an integrated total facilities management platform across the North West of England through acquisition. Our strategy is buy-and-build: consolidating established SME facilities management and building services businesses into a single multi-service group, combining operational scale with a technology layer that most independents cannot access on their own.

The platform is organised around four service pillars — Hard FM and building maintenance, Compliance, Soft Services, and Property Management — giving clients a single accountable provider across their estate rather than a fragmented supply chain.

Backed by experienced partners with deep expertise in acquisition, operational transformation, and real estate, we are at the beginning of a multi-acquisition programme. This is a ground-floor opportunity: the Managing Director we appoint will shape how the group grows and will share in the value created.

The Platform

Anchor acquisition — an established multi-disciplinary facilities management and property maintenance contractor with over three decades of trading history, a directly employed workforce supported by a long-standing subcontract base, ISO 9001 accreditation, and multi-year local authority framework and utility sector relationships. Completing in 2026.

Acquisition pipeline — further bolt-on businesses under active evaluation across compliance services, mechanical and electrical maintenance, and soft services, extending both the geographic footprint and the range of services the group can self-deliver.

Technology layer — building energy management, remote monitoring, and predictive maintenance capability, supported by a dedicated offshore operations bureau. The ambition is to move the group beyond reactive and planned maintenance into monitored and predictive service delivery — a genuine differentiator in an otherwise commoditised market.

Shared services — group-level finance, HR, procurement, and bid capability, allowing acquired businesses to shed back-office cost and concentrate on delivery.

Job Summary

We are seeking an exceptional Managing Director to lead the operational integration and growth of the facilities management group. This is a rare opportunity to take ownership of a growth platform from the outset, with full P&L responsibility and a clear mandate to integrate and scale a series of acquisitions.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

The right candidate will earn a meaningful equity stake through our employee share scheme. We are not offering token options — we want a partner who is invested in the long-term success of the group and will share in the value we create together.

The Role

As Managing Director, you will be the operational leader of the group, accountable for performance, integration, and growth. You will work closely with the Board and with the management teams of acquired businesses to execute the acquisition strategy while building a scalable, high-performing organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Full P&L responsibility for the facilities management group, driving revenue growth and margin improvement
  • Lead post-acquisition integration — people, systems, processes, back office, and brand — with minimal disruption to client delivery
  • Develop a repeatable, scalable integration playbook that shortens the time from completion to full integration with each successive acquisition
  • Realise synergies across the group: cross-selling between service pillars, shared services, procurement consolidation, and rationalisation of the subcontract base
  • Improve delivery economics — including converting subcontracted labour to directly employed delivery where volume and margin support it
  • Oversee day-to-day operations, working through and developing the management teams of acquired businesses
  • Own and grow public sector and utility framework relationships; lead tendering, retenders, and framework renewals
  • Ensure regulatory, accreditation, and health and safety compliance across the group (ISO 9001, Gas Safe, NICEIC, SafeContractor / CHAS, CDM)
  • Identify and evaluate further acquisition targets and support commercial and operational due diligence
  • Build, lead, and inspire high-performing teams across multiple sites and disciplines
  • Work with the Board to develop the group's technology and monitoring proposition into a commercial service offering

Candidate Profile

Essential

  • Proven track record as Managing Director, General Manager, Chief Operating Officer, or senior operational leader within facilities management, building maintenance, building services, or property services
  • Direct experience of M&A integration — having led or played a central role in bringing an acquired business into a larger group
  • Full P&L ownership with a demonstrable record of growing revenue and improving profitability
  • Multi-site operational leadership with responsibility for teams of 40 or more
  • Experience managing framework and term contracts, including public sector tendering and retendering
  • Experience managing a mixed delivery model of directly employed operatives and subcontractors
  • Strong commercial acumen — comfortable with contract economics, pricing, and margin analysis
  • Experience operating within private equity-backed, investor-led, or entrepreneurial ownership structures
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly

Desirable

  • Mechanical and electrical, gas, or electrical contracting background
  • Experience in compliance services — for example, fire safety, water hygiene, LEV, or statutory inspection regimes
  • Local authority, housing association, education, or utilities sector client experience
  • Working knowledge of CIS and subcontract delivery models
  • Exposure to building management systems, remote monitoring, PropTech, or data-led maintenance
  • Experience of establishing shared service functions across multiple operating companies

Personal Attributes

  • Entrepreneurial mindset — comfortable with ambiguity and energised by building something rather than administering it
  • Hands-on leader, willing to roll up sleeves while maintaining strategic perspective
  • Credible with clients, frameworks, and operatives alike — able to hold a boardroom and a site meeting with equal ease
  • Motivated by ownership and long-term value creation, not solely by salary
  • Resilient, adaptable, and values-driven

Working Arrangements

This is an office-based, on-site leadership role. The role will initially be based at the group's principal operating business in the North West, with a group office to be established in Manchester as the platform scales. Regular travel to portfolio company sites across the North West is expected, with periodic travel to other UK regions as the group expands through further acquisition.

Full UK driving licence essential.
