Role Overview
Our client, a global top 10 Sovereign Wealth Fund, is seeking an experienced trading professional to lead its Trading Execution function within the wider Capital Markets team, with a particular focus on multi-asset derivative trading.
Key Responsibilities
- Trading Execution: Lead the execution of multi-asset derivatives transactions globally, including equity derivatives, FX, rates, swaps, cross-currency and related listed and OTC products, ensuring best execution in line with portfolio, risk and investment objectives.
- Execution Strategy: Develop and implement sophisticated execution strategies for complex, large-scale and liquidity-sensitive derivative transactions, balancing market impact, liquidity, pricing and timing across asset classes.
- Portfolio Manager Partnership: Act as the senior execution partner to Portfolio Managers and investment teams, translating investment decisions into effective trading strategies and providing market, liquidity and execution insights.
- Trading Governance: Oversee day-to-day trading activity, execution controls and governance across multi-asset derivatives, ensuring adherence to internal policies, mandates and risk frameworks.
- Counterparty Management: Develop and maintain senior relationships with global investment banks, brokers, exchanges, clearing houses and other counterparties across relevant derivative markets.
- Market Intelligence: Maintain a deep understanding of global derivatives markets, liquidity conditions, market structure and evolving execution technologies, providing actionable insights to internal stakeholders.
- Team Leadership: Lead and develop a small, high-performing trading and execution team, establishing a culture of strong execution discipline, collaboration and continuous improvement.

Qualifications & Experience

- Minimum of 13 years’ relevant experience within derivatives trading and execution at either a tier-1 investment bank, leading global asset manager, sovereign wealth fund or major institutional investor.
- Strong and demonstrable equity derivatives trading background, including listed and/or OTC products, with a deep understanding of execution, liquidity, pricing and market structure.
- Proven experience across multiple derivatives asset classes, ideally including equity derivatives alongside FX, rates, swaps, cross-currency and related products.
- Proven experience executing complex, large-scale derivatives transactions on behalf of Portfolio Managers or institutional investment teams.
- Experience operating in a large institutional investment environment, with exposure to global markets and multiple trading venues and counterparties.
- Strong understanding of execution frameworks, transaction cost analysis, liquidity management, counterparty risk and trading governance.
- Established relationships with senior contacts across global investment banks, brokers, exchanges and clearing houses.
- Previous experience leading a trading or execution team, with the credibility to engage effectively with senior Portfolio Managers, investment professionals and external counterparties.
- Global market experience across Europe, North America and/or Asia, with the ability to operate effectively across international time zones.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline; advanced qualifications advantageous.
