Managing Director - Advanced Engineering & Clean Technology
Our Client
We are partnering with an ambitious, early-stage engineering and clean technology business to appoint a Managing Director who will lead the organisation through its next phase of growth and industrialisation.
Operating within a rapidly developing market, the business has developed a portfolio of innovative engineered solutions designed to support the transition towards cleaner, lower-carbon industrial operations.
This is a broad Managing Director mandate with full responsibility for strategy, P&L, commercial growth, engineering, manufacturing, supply chain and operational delivery. The successful individual will take an emerging technology business and build the commercial and operational platform required to scale.
The Role
The Managing Director will have overall responsibility for the performance and development of the business. Key responsibilities will include:
- Define and deliver the long-term business strategy and growth plan.
- Take full ownership of the P&L, including revenue, margin, cash, working capital and investment priorities.
- Lead the transition from product development and early customer adoption into repeatable, scalable manufacturing and commercial delivery.
- Develop the product and technology roadmap in line with customer and market requirements.
- Build and lead a high-performing multidisciplinary team across engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, commercial, quality, service and finance.
- Develop a scalable go-to-market strategy, converting early customer engagement into repeatable revenue and long-term partnerships.
- Lead strategic customer relationships, major bids, commercial negotiations and partnerships.
- Establish robust manufacturing, quality and supply-chain processes to support increased production volumes.
- Oversee the full customer journey from initial requirements through build, deployment, commissioning and ongoing support.
- Maintain the highest standards of safety, quality, compliance and operational governance.
- Build the organisational capability, processes and culture required to support significant future growth.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
