The opportunity
Hamilton Bradshaw, the private investment office of James Caan CBE, is looking for an exceptional business leader to work alongside James and the HB team across its portfolio of investments and new opportunities.
We are looking for someone who has built, led and grown businesses themselves and understands first-hand the challenges faced by founders and management teams as they scale.
This is not a conventional advisory role. The successful candidate will work directly with portfolio CEOs and founders to identify what is holding a business back, develop practical solutions and help drive them through to execution.
The role will also extend beyond the existing portfolio. We want someone with the commercial judgement and entrepreneurial instinct to identify new opportunities for HB – whether through acquisitions, new ventures, partnerships, co-investments or their own network.
Hamilton Bradshaw has more than 20 years of experience investing in and growing businesses. Our team combines principal capital with hands-on operational expertise and has successfully scaled and exited 19 businesses.
The role
Working closely with James Caan and the Hamilton Bradshaw team, you will:
- Work alongside founders and CEOs to identify and unlock opportunities for growth and value creation
- Help businesses address commercial challenges across sales, people, strategy, operations and profitability
- Support management teams in turning strategic priorities into clear, executable plans
- Identify opportunities for new markets, services, partnerships and acquisitions
- Get directly involved in acquisitions and other strategic transactions where your experience can add value
- Use your experience and network to open doors to customers, senior talent, strategic partners and other commercial relationships
- Assess new investment opportunities alongside the HB team
- Identify and develop new ventures, JVs and investment opportunities for Hamilton Bradshaw
- Bring an entrepreneurial perspective to where and how HB can deploy its capital, network and expertise

Who we are looking for
We are deliberately keeping the profile broad. The common thread should be a track record of building businesses and creating tangible shareholder value.
You are likely to have:
- Held a CEO, Managing Director or founder role with genuine P&L and leadership responsibility
- Built, scaled, turned around or successfully exited a business
- Strong commercial instincts and the ability to identify quickly what is really driving or constraining performance
- Experience in a people-led, professional or business services environment
- A track record of driving revenue growth and winning significant customers
- Experience of acquisitions, M&A or other corporate transactions
- The confidence and interpersonal skills to build credibility quickly with entrepreneurial founders and experienced management teams
- A strong external network and the ability to create opportunities rather than simply advise on them
- The versatility to move comfortably between an operational challenge in a portfolio company and assessing a new investment or commercial opportunity
- A hands-on mentality – someone who enjoys getting involved and making things happen

Previous private equity experience is useful but not essential. We are more interested in candidates who have personally built businesses and created value than those who have advised others on how to do it.
