About the Role

An excellent opportunity for a proven Managing Director, General Manager, or Business Unit Leader to take full responsibility for an established SME, leading growth, profitability, and operational performance. Reporting to the Board, you will provide strategic and commercial leadership across the organisation, driving sustainable growth while building a high-performing and accountable culture.

Our client is an established services business operating within a resilient and highly regulated environment. Built on long-standing customer relationships, recurring revenue streams, and a strong service culture, the organisation is seeking a Managing Director to lead its next phase of growth and performance.

Description

The Managing Director will have full responsibility for the leadership and performance of the business, overseeing commercial strategy, operational delivery, financial results, and organisational development. Working in partnership with the Board, the role will focus on accelerating growth, strengthening customer relationships, and ensuring the business continues to deliver market-leading levels of service and performance.

This is a highly visible leadership position requiring a balance of strategic thinking and operational execution. The Managing Director will lead the development and delivery of the business plan, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and create the environment for teams to perform at their best while achieving ambitious commercial objectives.

Profile

The successful applicant will be a proven commercial leader with experience of driving growth, improving business performance, and leading high-performing teams within a service-led environment. They will bring a strong track record of P&L ownership, strategic execution, and operational leadership, coupled with the ability to translate commercial opportunities into sustainable business results.

Comfortable operating at both a strategic and hands-on level, they will possess excellent leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills, alongside a customer-centric approach and a focus on continuous improvement.

Experience within the fire protection, security, or wider technical services sectors is highly desirable, although individuals from comparable service-led businesses with strong commercial and operational complexity will also be considered.

This is a highly visible leadership role required 2-3 days per week in the West Midlands HQ with frequent UK travel.
