Managing Director - Private Credit Secondaries
Location: London
The Opportunity
A leading global investment firm is seeking a Managing Director – Private Credit Secondaries to build and lead a dedicated secondaries strategy within its nearly $60bn private credit platform. This is a senior, entrepreneurial opportunity to develop a new investment capability within an established and highly institutional private credit business. The successful candidate will be responsible for shaping the strategy, originating opportunities, leading transactions and building the platform over time.
The mandate will cover a broad range of private credit secondary opportunities, including LP-led transactions, portfolio acquisitions, GP-led solutions, structured liquidity transactions and other complex secondary situations across private credit markets.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and lead the firm's Private Credit Secondaries strategy and platform
- Define the investment strategy, market positioning and origination approach
- Originate proprietary and intermediated secondary investment opportunities
- Develop relationships with private credit managers, institutional investors, advisers and other market participants
- Lead the evaluation, structuring and execution of private credit secondary transactions
- Assess portfolios at both asset and fund level, including underlying credit quality, valuation, concentration and liquidity
- Lead financial analysis, underwriting, valuation and downside assessment
- Prepare and present investment recommendations to the Investment Committee
- Negotiate transaction structures, pricing and legal terms
- Work closely with internal credit, legal, risk and portfolio management teams
- Support portfolio monitoring and value creation following investment
- Build and develop a high-performing secondaries investment team as the strategy scales
- Represent the firm externally and establish the platform as a credible participant in the global private credit secondaries market

Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will be a senior investment professional with significant experience across Private Credit Secondaries, Credit Secondaries or broader Private Markets Secondaries, combined with a strong understanding of private credit underwriting and transaction structuring.
Candidates should demonstrate:
- Significant experience in private credit, credit secondaries or private markets secondaries
- A strong track record of originating, leading and executing transactions
- Experience investing across LP-led, GP-led, portfolio or structured secondary transactions
- Strong understanding of private credit portfolios, fund structures and underlying credit risk
- Deep expertise in financial modelling, valuation, credit analysis and investment underwriting
- Strong commercial judgement and ability to evaluate complex or less liquid opportunities
- Established relationships across private credit managers, institutional LPs, advisers and intermediaries
- Experience presenting to and influencing senior Investment Committees
- Strong transaction negotiation and structuring capabilities
- Previous experience building, launching or scaling an investment strategy, product or team would be highly advantageous

Seniority
Candidates are likely to be operating at Managing Director, Partner or senior Director level within an established private credit, secondaries or alternative investment platform. The role requires an individual who can combine investment judgement, origination capability and entrepreneurial platform-building experience.
