The Opportunity
You are already operating at a senior level in Professional Indemnity and you want the opportunity to build something with real backing behind it, rather than inherit a proposition where the direction has already been decided.
This role gives you the mandate to create and lead a PI proposition from the ground up within a highly active MGA that already has strong financial lines and specialty capability, established broker relationships and a clear appetite to invest in high-performing people, teams and books of business.
What the Role Looks Like
You will be responsible for:
- Creating and leading the Professional Indemnity proposition.
- Defining underwriting appetite, target sectors and the wider go-to-market strategy.
- Developing business through existing broker relationships as well as your own distribution network.
- Building a profitable portfolio with a clear focus on sustainable growth and underwriting discipline.
- Recruiting and developing a team as the proposition grows.
- Identifying opportunities to bring across high-performing individuals, teams or books where they add strategic value.
- Working closely with the wider financial lines and specialty business to build a joined-up proposition in the market.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
Who This Could Suit
You will already have a strong track record in Professional Indemnity, with the credibility to build broker support and create momentum around a new proposition.
You may currently be leading a PI portfolio, running a specialist underwriting team or operating in a senior position where you have built a strong book but now want considerably more ownership over strategy, team, distribution and economics.
You will bring strong underwriting judgement, established broker relationships and a clear understanding of how to build a profitable PI portfolio. The business is particularly interested in people who can see beyond an individual underwriting role and want to create something with genuine scale.
The Business
This is a highly active MGA with an established position across financial lines and specialty business.
The business has a clear growth agenda and is prepared to invest behind proven people. It is comfortable being creative around team moves, books and commercial structures where the opportunity makes sense, which gives this role considerably more flexibility than a conventional senior underwriting appointment.

The current team is based in the City, although the role itself can be based anywhere. The priority is finding the right person and building the proposition around them.
Package
The base salary can reach £150,000, but the overall earnings potential is significantly higher.
For somebody who delivers against the opportunity, total remuneration can reach around double the base through bonus, with the potential for a substantial LTIP or even an equity component depending on the structure and scale of what you bring.
The package will be shaped around the individual, the opportunity and the commercial value of the proposition being created.
The Next Step
You will want to understand how much backing is genuinely available, how the economics can be structured, what existing distribution you can access and how much freedom you will have to build the proposition in your own way.
We can give you that context confidentially, including how flexible the business is around teams, books, covenants and long-term incentives, before you decide whether the opportunity is worth exploring further.
