A standout opportunity has opened up for a Managing Director to lead and grow the Real Estate M&A franchise out of the London office of one of the world's most respected investment banks. This is a senior, high-visibility hire with a genuine mandate to shape the direction of the platform.
The bank has built a strong real estate practice globally across capital markets and advisory, with a clear focus on the mid-market, and is now investing seriously in scaling its M&A capability in Europe to match. The platform, brand, and balance sheet are already there, alongside a deep international network that gives the London team a real edge on cross-border mandates. What they're looking for is the right person to take it to the next level. You'll inherit a credible book of client relationships and a talented team beneath you, with the autonomy to build out further, set strategy, and own the P&L.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
The deal landscape across European mid-market real estate M&A is as interesting as it's been in years — take-privates, platform consolidations, cross-border carve-outs, sponsor exits, and a wave of activity across logistics, living, healthcare real estate, and alternatives. This is a role for someone who wants to be at the centre of that, leading the conversations that matter with REITs, sponsors, and corporates across the region, with the firepower of a global franchise behind them.
What They're Looking For
The team will consider strong candidates from investment banks, M&A boutiques and advisory houses, or Big 4 M&A and corporate finance teams. The non-negotiable is genuine real estate sector experience — this is a coverage and origination role at its core, so deep relationships across listed real estate, private capital, and the sponsor community are essential. You'll either be an established MD, or a strong Director ready to step up, with a clear track record of originating and executing real estate M&A transactions in Europe. Equally important is the leadership credibility to build and develop a team, and the commercial maturity to operate as a senior figure across the bank.

Why This Role
Genuinely entrepreneurial MD seats in real estate M&A are rare. This one combines an established global platform with the freedom to build something in London — backed by a leadership team that has been clear about its ambitions for the sector and is putting real resources behind it. Compensation is structured to reward the build, with meaningful upside for the right person.
