The Gaffer Group of companies is seeking to recruit a Managing Director for the Gaffer Group Window Division.

The Window Division includes Dessian Products and Windowmate branches within Ireland and Scotland.

Dessian Products is a well-established and respected uPVC window, door and conservatory manufacturer founded 40 years ago which has a great reputation for quality, customer service and innovation. As we continue to grow, we are seeking an ambitious and commercially focused Managing Director to lead the Window Division into the next phase of development and success.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced leader to take responsibility for the strategic, operational and financial performance of the Window Division, driving growth while maintaining the highest standards of manufacturing excellence and customer satisfaction.

The role:

Reporting to the Gaffer Group Chairman, the Managing Director will provide leadership across all areas of the business, ensuring achievement of its commercial objectives while fostering a positive and high performing culture. The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic self-starter, confident in their ability to work independently while leading and developing an experienced management team.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and implementing the division’s strategic growth plans.
  • Leading and motivating the senior management team across sales, customer service, manufacturing, operations and finance.
  • Driving profitability, productivity and operational efficiency throughout the business.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with customers, suppliers and key stakeholders
  • Identifying new business opportunities and developing market growth strategies.
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant employment legislation, health and safety requirements, quality standards and industry regulations.
  • Managing budgets, financial performance and business reporting.
  • Representing the business within the industry and wider marketplace.
  • Promoting a culture of continuous improvement, accountability and operational excellence.

About You:

The ideal candidate will be a business leader with a strong track record in manufacturing and proven commercial acumen.

You will have:

  • Previous experience as a Managing Director, Commercial Director, General Manager or similar role, preferably gained in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience in driving business growth and profitability.
  • Experience within manufacturing, construction products, fenestration, building products, or a related industry.
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills.
  • A strategic mindset coupled with a hands-on approach.
  • Financial management and budgeting experience.
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills.
  • The ability to change and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.

Desirable experience:

  • Experience within the uPVC window, door or glazing industry.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Relevant business or management qualifications.
