CHERUB Magazine is an independent Fashion, Art & Culture publication dedicated to exploring the people, ideas and movements shaping contemporary culture. Across fashion, film & TV, music, books, art, beauty, lifestyle and society, CHERUB publishes original interviews, features, reviews and cultural commentary with a particular focus on emerging voices and new perspectives.
Built by a growing team of writers and creatives, CHERUB aims to create journalism that feels curious, distinctive and culturally engaged while providing emerging talent with a platform to develop their work.
Role Description
CHERUB Magazine is looking for a Managing Editor to work closely with our Editor-in-Chief and help oversee the magazine's editorial output.
The Managing Editor will play a key role in taking articles from submission to publication, reviewing and editing contributor work across CHERUB's sections, strengthening structure and storytelling, refining copy and ensuring each piece meets the magazine's editorial standards.

This is an opportunity to take on meaningful editorial responsibility within a growing independent publication and have a genuine hand in shaping the quality and development of CHERUB's journalism.
This is a flexible, fully remote, unpaid volunteer position.
Qualifications
- Strong editorial judgement with confidence in structural editing, line editing, copy editing and proofreading.
- Excellent written English, grammar and attention to detail.
- Ability to preserve an individual writer's voice while strengthening their work.
- Confidence providing thoughtful, constructive editorial feedback to contributors.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to keep track of multiple pieces at different stages of the editorial process.
- A genuine interest in contemporary culture and at least some of CHERUB's core areas, including fashion, film & TV, music, books, art, beauty, lifestyle and society.
- Comfortable collaborating with a remote team and using digital communication and organisational tools.
- Previous experience in journalism, editing, publishing, student media or another editorial environment is beneficial, but we also welcome applications from emerging editors looking to take the next step.
- An understanding of CHERUB's editorial identity and a willingness to help maintain and develop it.
