Managing Principal / Director – Financial Crime Transformation (AML, Sanctions & Fraud)

The Role
Capco is growing its Financial Crime Transformation capability and is seeking an experienced Managing Principal / Director to lead strategic initiatives across AML, Sanctions, and Fraud. This role is suited to an individual with deep domain expertise and a strong track record of delivering large-scale transformation programmes. You'll work closely with senior stakeholders to design and implement strategies that address evolving financial crime risks and regulatory expectations. You'll also champion AI-enabled ways of working, helping clients and teams responsibly leverage approved AI tools, automation, and data-driven insights to improve delivery, decision-making, and operational effectiveness while maintaining appropriate governance and human oversight.
What You'll Do
- Lead strategic financial crime transformation programmes across AML, Sanctions, and Fraud, identifying opportunities to accelerate delivery through AI-enabled workflows and automation where appropriate.
- Advise clients on regulatory compliance, including remediation programmes and regulatory review responses (such as Skilled Person Reviews (s166)), ensuring the responsible application of AI within regulated environments.
- Design and implement target operating models, controls, and technology solutions across financial crime functions, incorporating AI-enabled capabilities where they deliver measurable business value.
- Identify opportunities for innovation, AI adoption, and cost optimisation across financial crime operations while maintaining strong governance, auditability, and regulatory compliance.
- Build senior client relationships, lead business development, and shape market-leading propositions that drive growth across Capco's Financial Crime practice.

What We're Looking For
- Deep expertise in AML, Sanctions Compliance, Fraud Prevention, and wider financial crime transformation within financial services.
- Strong understanding of financial crime frameworks, including KYC, customer due diligence, risk assessment, transaction monitoring, and the three lines of defence.
- Proven experience leading large-scale transformation programmes within consulting or financial institutions.
- Knowledge of financial crime technology, automation, and AI-enabled solutions, with an understanding of responsible AI adoption in highly regulated environments.
- Demonstrated success influencing executive stakeholders, growing client relationships, and leading strategic transformation initiatives.
Bonus Points For
- Experience leading regulatory remediation programmes or responding to regulatory reviews.
- Familiarity with financial crime technology platforms, RegTech solutions, and AI-enabled financial crime capabilities.
- Demonstrated leadership in proposition development, thought leadership, or innovation across AML, Sanctions, or Fraud.
- Experience delivering transformation across multiple jurisdictions and regulatory environments.
- Proven track record of mentoring senior consultants, building capability, and developing future leaders.
