Where will you be working?

At M Group Energy, we’re enabling the energy essential to support our lives.

We provide an end-to-end service, delivering solutions in electricity transmission, distribution, renewable energy, EV, metering and home decarbonisation.

This role will be within our Energy Infrastructure team. We’re seeking a Managing QS to join our Commercial Management team, where you’ll drive process, performance, and commercial excellence across our varied portfolio.

We're looking for an experienced surveyor with a passion for mentoring others, delivering robust commercial management, and supporting operational teams to maximise value and minimise risk. You’ll be confident navigating complex contracts, driving best practice, and building lasting partnerships with our supply chain.

What will you be doing?

  • Leading and developing a team of Quantity Surveyors and Commercial Administrators, supporting their performance, growth, and compliance with training requirements.
  • Proactively managing pre-contract activities, including briefing delivery teams on contract terms, planning commercial resources, and supporting supplier engagement and tendering processes.
  • Overseeing valuation and change management, ensuring accurate applications for payment, contract administration, monitoring disputes, and guiding operational teams on commercial obligations.
  • Managing supply chain relationships and cost controls, validating project financials, administering subcontract agreements, and supporting Procurement initiatives.
  • Maintaining diligent records and audit trails, tracking payments, contract notices, meeting outcomes, and managing commercial risks and opportunities.
  • Driving contract performance, producing and presenting robust cost and value reports, risk registers, and forecasts, and providing advice to senior staff to support business decisions.

What You’ll Bring

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working within the Infrastructure or Construction industry in a similar role
  • Advance qualification in Quantity Surveying (BSC or equivalent) is required
  • RICS or CICES beneficial - MGroup are committed to supporting the development of our people and can offer support to gain chartership if you do not already have the accreditation
  • Previous experience as a line manager or functional manager of junior QSs or administrators advantageous but not essential
  • Experience on a diverse range of contract and project types including NEC3 and 4 contract suites
  • Experience of FIDIC, JCT or similar bespoke contracts also beneficial
