A leading infrastructure and utilities contractor delivering major electrical transmission and overhead line projects across the UK. With a strong order book and long-term framework agreements in place, they continue to invest in their commercial teams to support the successful delivery of critical energy infrastructure projects.

Your new role

As Managing Quantity Surveyor, you will join the commercial team responsible for supporting the delivery of overhead line and electrical transmission projects. You will play a key role in maximising project profitability, managing commercial risk and ensuring robust contract administration throughout the project lifecycle.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the commercial performance of projects from award through to final account
  • Supporting the preparation of reports, claims and commercial documentation
  • Identifying and managing commercial risks and opportunities
  • Maintaining risk registers and supporting risk mitigation strategies
  • Managing subcontractor and supplier accounts, including procurement, valuations, variations, claims and final accounts
  • Administering NEC3 and NEC4 contracts, including compensation events and change management
  • Identifying and recovering variations, delays and associated claims
  • Producing accurate cost reporting, forecasting and cost/value reconciliations
  • Building strong working relationships with Project Managers and key stakeholders
  • Attending project meetings and maintaining detailed commercial records
  • Ensuring compliance with Health & Safety, Quality and Environmental standards and company procedures

What you'll need to succeed

To be considered for this position, you will have:

  • A qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
  • Previous experience in a Quantity Surveyor, Senior Quantity Surveyor or Managing Quantity Surveyor role
  • Strong knowledge of NEC3 and NEC4 contracts
  • Experience managing subcontractors and supplier accounts
  • Contract costing and cost/value reconciliation experience
  • Experience capturing site records to support variations and valuations
  • Strong commercial awareness and financial acumen
  • Excellent negotiation, communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word and PowerPoint
