Managing Quantity Surveyor - Kent
A leading civil engineering contractor is looking for an experienced Managing Quantity Surveyor to join a major infrastructure project in Kent. This is a senior commercial position, suited to someone who has experience managing significant project values, leading commercial teams and driving commercial performance across a complex infrastructure project.
The Role
As Managing Quantity Surveyor, you'll take a lead role within the project commercial team, overseeing commercial performance and supporting the wider project leadership team. You'll be responsible for:
- Leading and managing the commercial team
- Overseeing the commercial performance of the project
- Managing cost reporting, forecasting and CVRs
- Reviewing commercial risks and opportunities
- Leading subcontract procurement and commercial negotiations
- Managing change, variations and compensation events
- Ensuring effective cost control and commercial governance
- Supporting project strategy and delivery from a commercial perspective
- Managing client and subcontractor relationships
- Reviewing and challenging commercial performance across the project
- Mentoring and developing Quantity Surveyors and Senior Quantity Surveyors

About You
We're looking for an experienced Managing Quantity Surveyor with a strong background in major civils, infrastructure or complex engineering projects. You'll ideally have:
- Significant NEC experience
- Experience managing commercial teams
- A strong track record on major infrastructure projects
- Excellent commercial and contractual knowledge
- Experience managing change, risk and commercial reporting
- Strong subcontract procurement and negotiation experience
- The ability to operate at both project and strategic level
- Excellent leadership and stakeholder management skills
