You will be joining an award-winning and multi-sector civil engineering contractor based in Leicester with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality infrastructure projects across the Midlands region. This multi-accredited and agile contractor operates across a diverse portfolio of public and private sector projects and offers excellent opportunities for career progression and professional development. Due to continued success and a strong pipeline of work, they are actively seeking a Managing Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team.

This is a full-time permanent position based out of their Leicester office with hybrid and flexible working.

Your new role

As Managing Quantity Surveyor, you will lead the commercial management of multiple projects from pre-construction through to final account. Working closely with operational teams, clients and senior stakeholders, you will provide strategic commercial leadership, ensuring projects are delivered profitably while maintaining strong contractual compliance and risk management.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and mentoring Quantity Surveyors and commercial teams across multiple projects.
  • Managing project budgets, forecasting, cost control and financial reporting.
  • Administering NEC and other standard forms of contract.
  • Overseeing subcontract procurement, negotiation and account management.
  • Identifying commercial risks and opportunities throughout project lifecycles.
  • Managing change control, compensation events and variations.
  • Producing and reviewing CVRs, cash flow forecasts and final accounts.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, supply chain partners and internal stakeholders.
  • Supporting business growth through commercial input into tenders and pre-construction activities.

What you'll need to succeed

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • Degree/HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying (or similar qualification) or experience equivalent
  • Proven experience operating at Senior Quantity Surveyor or Managing Quantity Surveyor level within civil engineering
  • Strong knowledge of NEC contracts and commercial management principles
  • Excellent cost management, forecasting and financial reporting skills
  • Strong negotiation, communication and stakeholder management capabilities
  • Full UK driving licence.
