About The Role

We're looking for a Managing Quantity Surveyor to join our Power Transmission & Distribution (T&D) business based in Aberdeen. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the commercial delivery of major electricity infrastructure projects across Scotland, helping to shape the future of the UK's energy network.
We offer flexible and hybrid working, alongside the opportunity to work on some of the most significant power infrastructure projects in the country. We're looking for a commercially driven leader who enjoys working closely with operational teams, building strong stakeholder relationships, and supporting the successful delivery of complex projects.
What you'll be doing
- Leading the commercial management of major transmission and substation projects.
- Managing project costs, budgets, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Producing and reviewing CVRs, cash flow forecasts, and project performance reports.
- Identifying, managing, and mitigating commercial risks and opportunities.
- Supporting contract negotiations and commercial strategies.
- Procuring and managing subcontractors and supply chain partners.
- Administering NEC contracts and ensuring contractual compliance.
- Managing change control, compensation events, and commercial recovery opportunities.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, project teams, and key stakeholders.
- Supporting value engineering initiatives and driving commercial efficiencies.
- Leading, mentoring, and developing Quantity Surveyors and Assistant Quantity Surveyors.
- Ensuring robust commercial governance and compliance with Balfour Beatty processes.

Who we're looking for
We are keen to hear from commercially focused professionals who have experience delivering large-scale infrastructure, utilities, power, energy, civil engineering, or construction projects.
You'll Ideally Have
- Experience operating as a Managing Quantity Surveyor, Senior Quantity Surveyor, or Commercial Manager on major projects.
- Strong knowledge of NEC3 and NEC4 forms of contract.
- Proven experience managing project costs and commercial performance.
- Experience leading commercial teams and developing talent.
- Strong understanding of subcontract procurement and supply chain management.
- Excellent commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
- Experience managing risk, opportunity, change control, and financial reporting.
- A degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related discipline.
- Membership of, or working towards, RICS, ICES, CIOB, or a similar professional body.
