Managing Quantity Surveyor

Location: Basingstoke

Minimum Requirements

  • HNC in Construction or relevant degree
  • Strong commercial management and line management experience in high-end residential construction or refurbishment

As a leader in high-end construction, heritage conservation, and specialist crafts in London and the South of England, we take pride in working on Britain's finest private residences, luxury hotels, and most cherished historic architecture. We believe our people are our greatest asset, as it's their dedication to excellence that has been the foundation for our outstanding reputation.

As Managing Quantity Surveyor, you’ll lead the commercial management of multiple high-end residential building projects. You’ll oversee financial performance, procurement, valuations, variations, and subcontractor management, while leading the surveying team and ensuring projects are delivered within budget and to the highest commercial standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the commercial performance of multiple projects, identifying risks and recommending corrective action.
  • Prepare and present CVRs, cash flow forecasts, valuations, final accounts, and monthly cost reports.
  • Manage variations, ensuring they are recorded, priced, and agreed promptly with clients and subcontractors.
  • Lead procurement activities, including tendering, commercial negotiations, subcontract orders, and financial checks.
  • Manage and develop the surveying team through regular reviews, mentoring, and performance management.
  • Work closely with clients, architects, Quantity Surveyors, subcontractors, and internal project teams.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
