Managing Quantity Surveyor

We are delighted to be working with a leading regional Construction business on the recruitment of a Managing Quantity Surveyor.

As Managing Quantity Surveyor, you will provide strategic commercial leadership across multiple projects while managing and developing a team of Quantity Surveyors. Working closely with operational and senior management teams, you will ensure commercial excellence from pre-construction through to final account.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of Quantity Surveyors and Assistant Quantity Surveyors.
  • Oversee the commercial management of multiple construction projects.
  • Ensure effective cost control, forecasting, budgeting, and reporting.
  • Manage procurement strategies and subcontractor accounts.
  • Negotiate contracts and final accounts with clients and supply chain partners.
  • Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities.
  • Support bid and pre-construction teams with commercial input.
  • Produce accurate monthly cost/value reports and forecasts.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and company procedures.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, and subcontractors.

About You

You will be an experienced commercial leader with a proven track record of delivering successful construction projects with values between £5m - £15m.

Essential

  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
  • Significant experience within a main contractor environment.
  • Previous experience managing commercial teams.
  • Strong knowledge of JCT and NEC forms of contract.
  • Excellent commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
  • Strong leadership and people management abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
