Managing Quantity Surveyor – Power & Infrastructure
Location: UK
Sector: Power, Utilities & Infrastructure
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
A leading specialist contractor operating across the power and infrastructure sector is looking to appoint a Managing Quantity Surveyor to lead the commercial function across major utilities and civils projects.
The business delivers high-value electrical infrastructure programmes for some of the sector's most demanding clients across the UK and Europe. With a strong pipeline of complex projects, this is an opportunity for an experienced commercial professional to take a lead role in delivering major infrastructure programmes from award through to completion and energisation.
Working alongside experienced project managers and delivery teams, you will have significant ownership of project commercial performance and play a key role in protecting margins, managing risk and delivering value for clients.
The Role
As Managing Quantity Surveyor, you will act as the primary commercial lead across major projects, taking responsibility for cost management, financial forecasting, cash flow and overall commercial performance.

- Leading all commercial activity across major utilities and civils projects.
- Setting and managing accurate project budgets, ensuring costs remain within agreed parameters and aligned with wider business objectives.
- Leading valuation and cash-flow planning, including detailed cost-to-complete forecasting.
- Producing accurate and timely commercial reporting for senior stakeholders.
- Working closely with project managers and delivery teams to maintain strong alignment between commercial and operational objectives.
- Providing clear financial updates to senior management, project teams and external stakeholders.
- Identifying, assessing and managing commercial risk from an early stage to protect project profitability.
- Supporting the successful delivery of projects against financial, quality and programme objectives.
About You
The successful candidate will have a strong commercial background within power, utilities, civils or major infrastructure, with proven experience managing high-value projects.
You will have:
- Proven Quantity Surveying experience managing £50m+ projects within the power, utilities or civils sectors.
- Strong working knowledge of NEC3 and NEC4 contracts within major infrastructure or civil engineering environments.
- Proven experience producing detailed financial forecasts, cost-to-complete reports and managing project cash flow.
- A degree in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
- A full UK driving licence and the right to work in the UK.
- Chartered or Incorporated status, or actively working towards professional qualification, is desirable.
- Professional accreditation with RICS, ICES or CIOB is desirable.
